Traditionally it's the right hand for the front (not in America though, maybe other places too), but it's your bike and you can do what you want

I have mine on the left on commuter and on the right on my road bike. Just to mess with my own head.
IMO front on the left is better because it lets you indicate right an scrub speed. If I were in the US I've had it on the other side for the same reason.
first bike build so forgive the noob question
the front caliper has the cable fixing on the right, so I guess running the cable from the left lever would look neater
