Lifetime of Carbon Forks?

  • Whats the life time of Carbon forks?

I have an old Giant OCR frame with flat bladed aero carbon forks.
It must be > 8 years old and I've ridden it a lot.

Do they have a shelf life?

I recon that when they go - it'll be sudden....

  • Nah.

    Carbon failure is never catostrophic.

  • People are still riding around on Giant Cadex frames from 8000 years ago.

  • if it's only been owned by you and you never crashed it should be fine. if its expensive to replace some people get them x-rayed to 100% sure everything is fine

carbon fibre tech has moved on a lot in the past 8 years, just like Reynolds steel technology improved over time, steel failure is less catastrophic tho

  • I regualrly use a Vitus GTI with Time carbon composite forks that were constructed in the early 90s. Solid as a rock.
