On the slightly smaller side at 38L for the pair, I have a pair of these sitting unused in a cupboard: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/deuter-rack-pack-uni-panniers/
Never used. £25? -

Well, I'm happy to (a) check the attachment hooks are the same as the ones in the picture, (b) try filling them up with water to see whether I can get more than 38 litres in there and (c) bring them up the OKR or over to Catford. Let me know.

Im happy to meet where/when ever :-)

Hi there, I've just checked the panniers and the hooks are in fact just metal with vinyl coating - pretty robust I think but not as flash as those Rixen & Kaul type ones in the picture above. At the bottom there's a hook with a strong elasticated section above it to clip onto the bottom of the pannier rack. If you'd like them, I can load them into my bag in the morning.

tl;dr - you can buy these from me for a bit less if you want but they're not perfect and I don't mind either way! 46L
Waterproof Pannier Single: Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors
I have these. I have used them for 4 days in France about 4 weeks ago - they're pretty much as-new i think. I'd sell them for something reasonable less than amazon.
I would be selling for 2 reasons - 1) I don't know when I'll next be touring and I don't have too much space 2) while these panniers are absolutely amazing value, fully waterproof and sturdier than the ortlieb ones they copy, I did also borrow a pair of ortliebs that my cycling companion used, and I will buy a pair of those next time I need panniers (if I sell these).
Why would I sell these? The clips are quite annoying. The ortliebs have a grab handle that easily opens the clips so they are v easy to put on and take off. These are not horrible to put on or take off, and I would not even have thought twice about it had I not experienced the ease of the ortliebs, but I now find them a bit annoying as I know how good they could be... As I said though they are sturdier than the ortliebs and generally awesome, so I don't really mind if I don't sell them.
Maybe they're a compromise though, worst of both worlds, and you should get Ludd's for £25 or ortliebs for £87.

Morning chaps!
Ludd, got your pm:-)
My biggest reason for getting them is that I think i need twice the space that I currnently have in my backpack. I am trying to find a site that will tell me the actual size of the damn bag.

I have worked out that my current backpack is 42l.
Ludd, unfortunately I think your offer may be a little small as I am looking to get upwards of of 60l i think

No worries - good luck with your hunt. That must be quite some trip you're planning!

you laugh, but its simply to be able to carry stuff for gym and any other extracurricular activities. Currently, my bag holds all i need for work and little more. I am tired of actually having it on my back so want to move it to a pannier. This would mean i would need another of similar size.
Is my logic wrong?
-
• #15
Logic is spot on - something like Altura Orkney or Carradice Super C ( 56 l ) would be good for you. Fearsome price new ( Deuter,s a good make ). Ortliebs are great too but pricey new again. Best to keep weight as low as you can.

They're 2x 23L and pretty roomy. I'd happily sell them if you're interested, however, if they're too small then no worries - PM me if interested.

I am looking for either 1x50l pannier bag or 2x25l pannier bags with proper hooks (not velcro jobbies)
Anyone have?
