Loss of brakes? #braklesslorries
I thought modern air brakes meant if there was a malfunction they lock on rather off... may well be wrong though.

It was still waiting to be towed at 9am. Traffic was backed up to Manor House, even though it was just the bus lane it was blocking.

They lock on, most modern artics can't coast in anyway. They breaks come on automatically to avoid runaway lorries due to handbrake or brake failure, I guess if the master cylinder failed it could end up being brakeless.

A friend of mine was hit a couple of weeks ago by a van that sped up, crossed over onto oncoming traffic (where my friend was knocked off, fracturing his elbow), mounted the pavement (where it hit a woman), and ending up in a shop front. The driver had passed out, or died, or something like that.

I witnessed an accident in France where an old boy had a stroke at the wheel, or a black out or some kind of brain event, and ploughed straight into a crowd of old dears pinning them to a brick wall.
Pretty sure some of them will have died.
It was a fucking awful scene. Can't imagine the horror if it had been an artic rather then a Fiat.

Presumably police were in attendance?
This morning Isledon Road in Finsbury Park was partially closed due to a lorry haven driven for a good 100m+ onto the footpath, smashing through a set of traffic lights and almost obliterating a whole bus stop before stopping on the footpath up against the railings.
Obviously I have no idea how this happened and I hope the driver is alright but I shudder to think what could have happened to pedestrians or cyclists as it's a route often used by cyclists who are heading to Kings X or Camden etc.
