There has been one vertically on my old robin Williamson track frame for years ( not done by me) when a ham fisted twat either rammed a too big post in, or over tightened the clamp bolt.....it had an 'old school' fix of having a little hole drilled at the bottom to stop it spreading....it hasn't got any worse. I was nearly 16 stone, but am 14 now...
And it's 'steel' not 'steal'......unless its nicked

^ yeah, I came here to suggest this. Drilling a little hole in the end of the crack will distribute the force to a larger area, preventing the crack from spreading - so long as the crack isn't too long or the force isn't too great, that is.
hi all, just a quick question. Upon looking over a carlton track frame I have, I noticed a small hairline crack just below the seatpin, the frame is either 501 or 531 steel, just wondering how road safe the frame is. Will upload flicks tomorrow but the crack is small and given the tough nature of the steel I thought it would be ok, any thoughts, thanks in advance
