I've a padded bike bag, not exactly a hard case. Lots of bubble wrap and job done though.

Thanks Rawrrr. Would it be tougher than a stiff cardboard bike box do you think?
I'm taking my Cervelo RS and I'm terrified of it getting damaged by Sleazyjet. I was thinking a hard case would be the best option, followed by a good cardboard bike box, folowed by a bag.
I'd prefer a case as it will be easier to wheel around at the other end, but the main criteria is that the bike be undamaged. If that means me lugging a giant cardboard box through the airport then so be it.
I've no experience in travelling with a bike so I'm a bit paranoid. Have you had much luck with the bag?

A decent padded bag and bubble wrap will do the job, you could stick some think cardboard on each side to protect it more.
I'm doing some work in France and want to take my bike as I'd like to tack an Alps trip on to make it all worthwhile. I'll be flying so really need of a hard case to borrow (or rent on the cheap).
If anyone has one and isn't using it between the 14th of Sept and the 7th of Oct I'd be eternally grateful if I could borrow it.
