Straps are a must. I guess it's a less serious problem if you run 2 brakes but I think it's always a good idea to run straps as well.

For future readers new to fixed gear - as I currently am - a solitary powergrip strap is not the best means of foot retention whilst leg braking.
I shall be buying proper straps tomorrow.

Pulled upwards against the pedal direction, foot flew out as strap lost hold, left foot slipped too. Balanced on arse whilst desperately adjusting hand to apply break.
Been practicing stopping suddenly when noone around me, thankfully.
is it a bad idea to ride fixed on flat pedals with straps? or is that just flat and strapless?
