Lovely. Blue.again.
It definately needs a run on track and so do you.
All fixie lovers should get into track racing, you'll never enjoy bikes so much

I've already been to Herne Hill a fair bit, I've got a Dolan I was planning to keep using for the track. There's no question I'm going to carry on with that, the only issue is which bike gets the pleasure of coming with me.
Might need a bit of a safety check first though, I'm not sure how well the tubs hold air, and I'm not sure I trust a 15+ year old 3/32" chain.

Yeah check it properly of course.shame there isn't more storage spaces for bikes up there, riders more likely to take part if they didn't have to bang out miles to get there before session.

I'd use the Dolan for the track and this as an everyday bike - but that's just me.
You may aswell get new forks - clamp on brakes are hideous. Or just ride brakeless and keep it looking nice..What saddle is on there atm?
Tubular wheels? -

^^I think I'm going to do the same, but I want at least one go in this bike's natural habitat.
Don't really fancy riding brakeless, so I think it will be new forks eventually. Any suggestions on forks from anyone? The BLB ones look nice but I don't really want to give them any money.
And yeah it's tubs on there at the minute which means it's obviously not ideal as a city runaround. Might do what Rodolfo did and get the hubs rebuilt with clinchers, but that seems a shame.

Good one! Ofmega brothers on different sides of the stream.. Looking forward to seeing better pictures!

• #8
Btw cranks shaved off stradas or genuine pista's?
-
• #9
Genuine Pistas I think, I don't think the bike's been used apart from on the track. The hubs are sooo smooth.
The saddle at the moment is a cheap-looking one, it's got a logo with an F on it. Can't do any better yet. Looks quite comfortable but I know my arse likes Rolls saddles and I think that will suit better.

Looks boss, subscribed

I'd keep that wheelset for the track - if you plan to ride track, makes sense.
That's a fair old steerer, so second hand might be tricky. Worth keeping an eye out on the bay though.

This has the makings of a good story Tommmmmm - be great to see whether Joeris van Rooy used it in competition. Maybe the bike shop can help with the history as well as the bits? Either way, looking forward to seeing more pics...

Some more pictures...same old poor quality
The lug linings...
The stem - can anyone identify the little bird logo?
It rides so nicely, it's currently being kindly stored by apollo but I am dying to get it back

Ahhh.. Those cranks are the non-fluted ones.. Nice! Looks nice Tom, treat it well.. ish

After a fruitless search for a threaded fork with a long steerer I recently took a punt on these
1" threaded, drilled for a brake and with 250mm of steerer. They should be arriving in the next few days, I can report back (including news on how much import duty I get stung for) if you like?
They have a couple of European distributors listed on their website but I didn't get any joy when I enquired.
-
• #18
Yeah it would be interesting to see how that pans out, let me know!
Did you rule out the ones TFG and BLB have, and if so, why? Was it the pricing or were their steerers too short?
-
• #19
The TFG ones have 200mm steerer which is too short for me. I didn't check with BLB actually, I always forget about them for some reason. Anyway I hate their website and am not in London so can't call in to check.

59.5cm c-t
and whoa, duplicate post appeared, so I deleted one, and both went!
A few weeks ago I was given a tip-off about a very good deal on a Belgian second-hand website. Thanks to the excellent patience and helpfulness of LFGSS' famous Rodolfo, I was able to pick it up on my way to catching the ferry home:
Looked alright in the picture, but in the flesh it's a stunnah. Lovely blue sparkle painted, Lexpres spray-painted on the down tube, and amazing decals featuring WC stripes and a train.
Ofmega Competition cranks, Ofmega hubs laced to Mavic Piste rims, 27.2mm seatpost suggesting decent tubing, and cloverleaf cutouts.
Lexpres is a bike shop in Antwerp, so I will get in touch and see if they can help me identify the bits and pieces. It also has a rider's name on it, Joeris van Rooy, who is apparently now deceased, which sadly rules out a brilliant rat-racer style reunion.
Planning a Rolls, and maybe a new drilled chrome fork or clamp-on brake, and little else. Maybe a new stem. It was going to be a beater as I got it for a beater price, but I think it deserves a trip to Herne Hill.
Pics to follow shortly...
