Bike theft and violence

Hi all,

Last weekend, a person was attacked and stabbed in broad daylight at 7pm in Victoria Park, whilst cycling home from work. He was confronted by 2 youths who tried to block his way and grabbed at his bike, a third youth then came from behind and stabbed him in the chest. All three were aged between 14 and early 20's.
The victim suffered severe stab wound chest injuries and is extremely lucky to be alive.
I am posting this here, in the hope that someone will have seen something or heard something. If you witnessed anything, or if you see or hear of anyone trying to sell a Black Claud Butler men's hybrid cycle, please inform the police!! I have attached a picture of the bike as well.

Shit, hope the guy is ok. I cycle through the park everyday so will keep an eye out for anyone acting suss. But yes, where in the park?

thats fucking terrible... i hope someday there will be a satelitite which can photograph/record such crimes... so as this type of scum can be strung up by their ballbags etc.

The notion that this happened is awful, that it actually happened is pretty bloody hideous....... I hope the rider makes a speedy recovery. I suspect they will need some support, if we can help we will.

So we're at the point now where it's worth stabbing and possibly killing an innocent stranger in broad daylight for a third of the fenced value of a secondhand hybrid? London's pretty fucked. Really hope the guy makes a full recovery and that these scumbags have awful, awful things waiting for them in their futures. Awful.

This is terrible and I hope your friend makes a speedy recovery. I was just wondering where, because I cycle through the park at least twice a day and run around it a couple times a week. Just thought it would be useful for people to watch out in particular areas of the park as it is a big area.

where are these constables / police that should be doing some rounds @ the park??! can't believe this happened there.. hope the cyclist is recovering well.. be safe people whoever goes there..

Was just about to post exactly this. If true it's totally shocking.

This kind of story rarely makes news. A friend of mine was accosted in Vicky Park a few years back at night (he was with pals). The assailant actually cut him at the throat leaving a pretty ugly scar. He was caught too after a cabby picked him up and clocked the knife. Never convicted though and not a drop of coverage by local media. Thoughts to the rider. Stay safe.

He/she apparently also circulated a picture of the bike.

It seems credible to me. There are so many assaults and muggings every day that the national media only tend to report on murders and manslaughter, or assaults with particular twists that make them stand out in the news. It was probably in the local papers yesterday, but I haven't got them yet.

There was a spate of attacks on the Lee Navigation where the undergrowth hid the hoodie gangs, also a rape-the rapist was caught. I've also seen kids in school uniform wait on the bridge over the Regents Canal in Vicky Park lobbing stones at cyclists on the towpath below, I stopped and yelled "WTF are you doing!" I thought about grabbing the kid and calling the cops but that could lead to all sorts of unpleasantness so I just waited till they buggered off. Three East London ten-year-olds is like one very hard thirty year old.

The rider is recovering and doing ok, considering. Thanks for the kind words everyone. We do realize there is no media coverage on this incident, but as Oliver Schick said, they're most likely only willing to cover incidents that they deem to be a good story.

Just a general "fuckinel" to add, astonishing. Will the local cycle campaign groups organise a "flash ride" to highlight this type of going on? That might get some media coverage...?
