It's fairly flat with a couple of bumps on the southern side. Though, travelling in a clockwise direction they're far less steeper than anti. My last time around the island is here:

yes, i cut the last bit off and didn't do it at a 'social' pace as i had an angry girlf back at the campsite :)

Boo!
Rolling. No big tough climbs, just lots of little testing climbs (Blackgangs no big deal in this direction).

I'm planning on visiting some friends in Norfolk and watching the Tour of Britain go past so prob not in for this one.

Last year we got some monster group save from southern rail. Worked out stupidly cheap.

I gave Soutwest rail a call to get a quote on ferry+rail tickets but the f*cking indian call center told me to call Irish Ferries. I gave up.
Chris: if you want to take up the mantle or let me know who to talk to that would be cool. Obviously the lower the costs the better.

Ladies and gentlemen
You are, once again, cordially invited to the Tuesday Night Ride Club's epic second 'Deluxe' of the year:
If you don't know who we are: we're the strange bunch that enjoy the occasional lane of a Tuesday evening and a bit of painting of a weekend:
this Saturday September 8th we'll be enjoying the Isle of Wight Randonnee: a ride that was sadly a washout earlier this year. We're giving her a another chance to redeem herself through the night, beginning at Ryde on the last ferry, arriving at 11.30pm and taking the island at a leisurely pace in a clockwise direction, ending with a slap up breakfast back at Ryde circa 7.30am.
If you've done this ride before you'll know that it's a beauty, providing an epic mix of rolling lanes, pacey flats and the monstrosity that is Blackgang. The route is very well signposted but I'll be leaving the way to ensure everyone gets around in good time and together. Once again Balmain will be bringing up the rear.
Note that if there aren't sufficient people in attendance a backup date of 22/23rd Sept will replace this one. But we know that won't happen... don't we?
Prices, plan and list below copy/paste yourself on:

Heh, I might be able to make it on the 08/09 too since I'm in Bournemouth anyway, but I might be on holiday. I might well come on both.

TBH if there genuinely aren't enough takers we'll push it back. You'd better not complain if it's colder and darker for longer though

Oi Matt, piss off, this is the 8/9 Sept thread, splitters are over there>>>>>>
Things to bear in mind when considering the timing.
On arrival at Ryde, we are required by law to sit in a pub for and hour and a bit - TNRC travelling abroad quarantine rule number 315 (a) i
At some point we are required to sit on top of a cliff, in the dark, staring out to seaThis is all because the chain ferry in cowes stops overnight so no point in going too fast and getting there before it starts running at 5ish, it is then 1.5-2 hours back to Ryde, so allowing for a breakfast or two you will not realistically be on a boat until after 10am
