Gites / cheap villas, SW France (Med.)

Hi

I've looked for a thread / recent thread on this and can't see one, happy to merge / shift etc.

I'm looking for a nice, basic, CHEAP, gites or place to stay for 2 people in SW france, on the Med side, area of Carcassone / Beziers / Perpignan. Anyone have any recommendations based on experience or know anyone that rents places out?

Dates would be 17th-24th September (Mon-Mon) , maybe a few extra days if possible.

Three gites and counting, come on, who knows one...

I was just down in the Corbiers area, about 10k inland from Narbonne - stayed n a nice villa, but not that cheap (1.5k per week) though cheap for what it was compared to other areas of France.

Portel Des Corbiers is nice

There where Gites everywhere, we went through owners direct, which I have always found to be pretty good.

cheers both, found one on owners direct today, looks great. shoosh, your boss's place looks good but there's only two of us so we might get lost in it!

Im sure youve looked already but Gites de France is a great website. We've used it for years and have now rented gites all over france and dont think once had a bad experience

cheers XH, i have looked at it extensively but it's hard to tell which of the budget places are basic but well looked after ,and which aren't - but i think we've found somewhere now.

on that note.......

if you were driving to southernmost France from London, and wanted to stop somewhere interesting overnight, on the way there or back, where would you stay?
