A bit random, admittedly, but my Bike Cave™ is the cellar of a Victorian house which is half the size of the ground floor (the other half holds the house up, basically).
It used to be a coal cellar and the bricks (and the mortar, seemingly) are original. I'm pretty sure it's lime mortar, which makes sense as it was built c.1870.
Over the years the mortar has done it's job and gone a bit crumbly, so it needs repointing.
I can obtain suitable lime mortar, but am deeply unsure of my skills or available time being sufficient to rake out the mortar to the required depth and repoint and am aware that many builders will take one look at it and stick cement in their, reducing the ability of the walls to breath and risking damage to my bricks in the long term.
Does anyone do this kind of thing and might be interested, or can you recommend someone who does?
