I have also never organised a bike race, however I do like to organise/be involved with things, so would love to help any way I can!

I think this is a great idea given the success of the hunt and the north race. It's whether you do some sort of city crit or something heading out into the downs.
-
• #4
That would be excellent!

I'd be all over this! Would be happy to take photos and publicise through some blogs I write for.

A hill climb would be best. Ditchling Rise or somewhere less busy. Sort the men from the boys ;)

An alley cat could be quite cool, could even have it stretch to marina and portslade

About three times a week I do Seven Dials to the top of the Dyke, round the mini roundabout outside the pub, and back down. Anyone wants to join they're very welcome.

Yeah ocdc I do the same thing in the mornings but go right at the pub turn off and down towards the Poynings roundabout and then back up along saddlescombe road.

I'd be up for, Marine Parade is always a good one to do, from the pier to the marina and back? SHORT RACE!

Right. Glad to hear there's interest. Cool there's a lot of suggestions. People who are interested, shall we organise a get together to go over some ideas/plan routes/diss strapless riders.

We meet most fridays myself and dice are talking about arranging an alleycat in brighton

srs biznez, let's have a friday night hill climb alleycat. Straight after work, no going home and sitting down.

Good luck with that! Running a race in a public park is hard enough going down the correct channels, doing it outside of permissions is a recipe for disaster.
You can't stop Joe Public and his dog from using the park. the chance of one stepping into the path of oncoming brakeless riders is highly likely.Want to run an alleycat? Make it lowkey. Never call it a race. Simple point to points work well for the fast guys. Treasure/photo hunts work better for the inexperienced.

what smallbrownbike says. You can't go around shouting about having races and alleycats, you've got to just put something on. People will come out of the woodwork for it.

Did someone say race?
-

Myself and dice have been trying to organize something for ages but its hard enough getting people to meetings let alone an event
-

Srsly, do it like the old days. As Matt says, someone organise a picture based one.
If you organise it, people will come.

This can also mark my return to Brighton. I know how much you have all missed me
I think it's about time we hosted good old fashioned bike race of sorts. I've never organized one before, so if anyone wants to help out/get involved in any way, then please drop me a PM. Open to all suggestions. That is all.
