My bottom bracket is seized on. Searching on this forum with my good eye closed i have found loads about soaking in plusgas. Know it sounds daft but how do you do that?! Like, what recepticle would i use and can you get plusgas in a non-spray can?
Also, is it better than wd40 or gt85? Is there anything better than plusgas?
Fanks
Recepticle is all ready there you pour it in the down tube.
WD40 is not a penetrating oil - it a water dispersant hence WD.
Before you undo - do up it helps to break the stickyness.
If you can get some diesel fuel then that is one of the best things for freeing up stuck components. -

Is it a cup and cone or sealed modern variant? Both cups or just the drive side?
Are the tools you are using cuasing damage to the cups or is it that you cannot get enough purchase/force?
A bit of gentle heat around the bottom bracket shell from a chefs blow torch can aid things also (bearing in mind if you've used diesel..lol)If the cups are aluminium based you can use something with a high ammonia content such as descaler, oven gel etc to corrode the aluminium away, takes a while though and you have to repeat a fair few times. Most paint jobs are okay if you are careful but not to be used on your most precious :o)
Again if ally based cutting it is a last resort. -

Is the tool slipping in the bb or the spanner slipping on the tool?
Have you tried tool in vice and frame on top, use it as a lever?
-

use a longer axle bolt to screw the bb tool into place so its not going to slip anywhere in the bb cup. Then Just use a big box spanner or a vice and get some mega leverage on it after the bb has been soaked.

I have a 40 year old BB on my new (old) vintage Claud Butler. Can't wait to get that sucker off and replace, plus new cranks etc. It'd be great if GT85 sorted it, however my local shop advised they'll need to heat with a blow torch to get it off probably, not something in my kit!
