ALAN frame: top tube brake cable guides

Posted on
  • I have a lovely 1980 ALAN alloy frame. I think it's an ALAN Competition model. Two of the three top tube cable guides are broken. They are screw in and I've managed to remove the screws and broken guides. Is it possible to get replacement matching cable guides and if so, from where?

    Thanks, and here's the frame.........

  • I don't think that you can get loose cable guides or stoppers.
Alternative: look for broken/cracked Alan frames and buy for GBP 20.- or so.
Or pay a bit more if the forks are okay. You can resell them.

  • Thanks for the reply. I've sent an e-mail to ALAN - maybe they've got a few tucked away in the back of a drawer somewhere - although I didn't know how to say that in Italian.........

In the meantime, I'll keep using this one as it's fully built up.

  • I contacted Alan in Italy, and they managed to find me the last of their cable guides. They are slightly different to mine, but I can make them fit. The nice thing, very nice thing indeed, is that they supplied them FOC. So chapeau to Alberto Falconi at Alan bikes for that!

I used google translate to send them a very nice thank you e-mail, in Italian. The very least I could do.
