I have a chrome steel seat post from a BMX 26.8mm heavy and long if any use?
-
• #7
^It's important that they get the right size seat post, you can easily mess up a frame with the wrong size
-
• #8
I tried to measure as close as I could by eye, and it don't think it reaches 27mm :/
Yeah £10 for those sounds good.

I do have a Genesis branded 27.2 in black if that fits too
-
• #10
Ves - yeah I know, I did order some £10 electric callipers but they haven't turned up...
harv - Nah I'm after a silver one mate

The frame looks, and possibly is, this.

So yeah bullhorns possibly sorted, wondering if anyone can shed some light on seatpost size for me?
Also some opinions - should I run this geared or fixed?
-
• #14
If it's 531 straight gauge it probably uses a 26.4 seatpost like my Gazelle Champion Mondial semi-race from 1978. It is a good idea to get some proper measuring done with vernier calipers though.

Cheers, that sounds promising Ata

possible rear wheel?
2) Mavic MA3 700c rear wheel hand laced to system x single speed hub, 18 tooth freewheel good condition, barely used, runs true: £45 ONO

Mhmm not really a fan of those rims mate, I'll bare it in mind and let you know later if someone else doesn't take it. Cheers :)
-
• #18
yep, no problem - it's not exactly deep-v but it is hand built and cheap.
-
• #19
Apologies if your frame does transpire to be other than 27.2mm seatpost diameter, I'm no authority on the subject that's for sure
-
• #20
Thats cool, any help is appreciated :)

Will do :)
So just need a chainring (and chain) and seatpost now, saddle in the post from the Netherlands.
-
• #23
This is the saddle I got... the colouring on the side will go nicely with the Gazelle decals me thinks.
Ordered a chain too, also need some medium steel toeclips if anyone has any!

Normally but there are exceptions. Some Peugeot 531 frames had the seat post inserted upside down and so took something like 26.4mm seatpost and Pistoffski is selling a Gazelle 531 db track frame which takes a 26.8mm seatpost.

531 straight gauge is 26.8, IIRC
Ok so having numerous threads for bits is stupid, so I'm gonna put them all here.
Need;
FIN but looking for Nitto Jaguar stem and Rb021 bars.
