Sounds like a good idea, provisionally up for it (pending getting a day off).

Cool. Let me know. Not much interest thus far so taking the car over isn't very cost effective for just 2 people but I think taking the ferry as a foot passenger is only £30 even if the car stays in blighty

Can't do Wednesday either chaps, perhaps hatch a plan to Paris for the finale?
I fancy going to watch the tour on Wednesday. It is the Abbeville to Rouen stage and passes through Dieppe at about midday.
I propose to drive down to Newhaven and catch the 11pm ferry over (4hr crossing, arrives 4am) on Tuesday night, eat some croissants, get a big foam pointy finger thing, watch the tour whizz by for roughly 30 seconds, try get a picture of Cavendish but actually get one of the rider 6 places behind, find a hypermarche and stock up on cheese, salami and wine then head home on the 6pm ferry which gets in at 9pm then head back to London.
Anyone fancy it? I have a ford focus so have space for 3 more. There is not much price difference between taking the car and not taking the car on the ferry so we can either leave the car at Newhaven or take it over depending on level of booze cruise wanted. The ferry costs £120-140 at the moment but i think it should be pre booked to avoid disappointment. Probably not really worth it but if anyone has a suitable bike rack we could take the bikes with us too. So if there are 4 of us it should work out about £40 each.
I am in 'acne E9 near London fields. I guess we would need to leave by 8pm on Tuesday and be back by 11 on Wednesday.
Anyone up for it let me know and obviously if anyone else has a car and fancies going in convoy then more the merrier.
Cheers
Theo
