Madegood's bike maintenance videos are being featured on the guardian bike blog this week. We have 50 more videos to be added soon.
And the blog section is due to be expanded as well. Always happy to have contributors too, so let us know if you have a particularly memorable ride or something like that you want to write about.
cheers folks! spread the word

we're starting a series on commutes to work and are keen on featuring people's rides. the idea is that people can share routes and others may be able to find better ways of getting around.
would anyone be interested in doing something about their commute? private message me if you are.
thanks

Sugoi, I like the site but is there any chance you could sort out the navigation? It's really a pain to find any links, e.g. when I want to link to Own the Road there's no link in the navigation bar. There also doesn't seem to be a clear structure to the magazine categories; they likewise should appear on the left, not just the latest postings on the page when the navbar disappears.

Speaking of 'Own the Road', Patrick Field's blog, which the site has hosted for some time, here's the link to it:

He's also started a blog on touring called 'White Line Fever':

(I just went via Google to get that link. :| )

Thanks for the feedback, I'm not in charge of site design etc, but I'll let the right guy know.
We're aware it's due for improvements. I think a site redesign is in the pipeline.
I mentioned this before in relation to a Mike Burrows film my friend is making. His website madegood is now up and running.
http://www.madegood.org/bikes/
madegood is designed to be an information resource (like many others).
The distinguishing point with madegood is the emphasis on quality and ease of use. i.e. in the case of bikes, simpler than Park and higher quality than the hundreds of videos on youtube all showing you the same thing... poorly.
As you can see much of it is basic stuff targeted at novices, but this will slowly evolve. My understanding is that his intention is to ultimately have a how-to guide on almost everything that there is (always hitting a certain level of quality, clarity, and relevance). One of the ultimate aims is to establish guides for developing countries in relation to solving practical issues, which they could then share... in my head I imagined it being full of things like the coke bottle light... but for now it's just bikes.
So.... I told him this was the friendliest forum on the internet and I'd see if people had any feedback.
...and in all seriousness there is a range of bike knowledge here - including a lot of us who joined with no mechanical knowledge and can remember those first problems.
So.... what are peoples opinions, thoughts, specific or otherwise? Where is there room for improvements, etc.?
What issues should there be more of, etc?
Cheers!
Ps I posted this here in bikes ‘n bits before the mechanics because; a) I thought it would generate a bit more discussion - which it needs for improvement; and b) I didn’t think it would be helpful to clutter up mechanics yet - I'll post a link in the useful websites list.
