Wow, 130? Bargain!
-
• #3
That is a handsome frame for peanuts.
Grab a bargain tall folk.
-
• #4
Peanuts? I was rather hoping I'd get cash!
-
• #5
my size... I definitely would.
But I don't need it.
Cross post it here, as many people on the lookout for big frames sub to that thread.

• #6
Any chance of some more photos? I am very tempted for this price

BBB - Big Beautiful Bargain!
Sptra it would suit you nicely, and go well with the Orlowski...
I call Dibs for spotter.
-
• #8
If i buy this i might sell the orlowski...
-
• #9
Selling José would make more sense srly?
-
• #10
no I love José deeply.
Also i'm guessing this the same frame: http://www.lfgss.com/thread46145.html
So i'm correct in thinking that the forks are non MAX and its gathered £50 in value along the way?
-
• #11
Those forks look similar to most of all the others I have seen on MAX framesets.
Why is he a chancer? It looks like he has a very good chance of selling the frame to somebody at a price which will, presumably, make both of them happy.
-
• #12
They're definitely not MAX forks, I have some on my Orlowski, look at the shape of the blades:
That and the original sale thread says they're not and the OP of this thread says they're not in the Retrobike thread about the frame:
http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=113363
TM was suggesting he is a bit of a chancer because its considered bad form to buy something from the classifieds here and then sell it on for a profit. However the OP might be including the seatpost or stem etc thus accounting for the extra value.

Is it not bad forum etiquette to buy something from the forum, then sell it on the forum for a profit?
-

Yes Spotter I think you're right about the fork sorry, the straight one with fatter blades looks more familiar. I'm sure I've seen some with curved blades though...
There is a general discussion which has been had on here many times that something is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it and its previous traded history is irrelevant. Having said that I do side with you about forum etiquette but I think its a bit strong to call him a chancer because the previous thread was 2 years old and it may have been traded in between.
Either way it is still a very fair price.

Thanks for the interest and comments above - as far as I can tell they aren't Max forks but they are matched to the frame and go nicely.
Regarding buying something on here and then selling at a profit, I didn't purchase it off here and I paid more than £80 (although not much more and seem to remember that it included the headset although as it was a couple of years ago my memory isn't exact). I'm not sure that it also makes a difference that I bought it a couple of years ago, probably not, although I'd be impressed by myself if I played a long enough game to wait 2 years to make a profit.
Anyway, unsure if I have breached etiquette. If so I'll happily close this and look to sell elsewhere.
(As an aside, I recall selling a pair of Adidas Merckx a few years ago for £25 and then getting a PM of £50 to gazump - when I declined and suggested that it seemed like poor form I was roundly criticized by some as the guy who had offered more "really needed them". Despite the £ signs obscuring my thinking, I stuck to the agreed price of £25. Not sure what the point of this little anecdote is but I guess it's "damned if you do, damned if you don't").

RE: my question about more photos, any chance or is it pretty much unchanged from the previous sale?
oh and what is the BB threading? I assume it takes a 27.2 seatpost as well? -

RE: my question about more photos, any chance or is it pretty much unchanged from the previous sale?
Of course although given your comment about price I'd assummed that you were no longer interested.
Is there anything in particular that you want to see?
-
• #19
No i'm still interested, I wanted to clear up the history, which you've done thank you. I'd appreciated photos of any areas of rust or notable damage please.
As secondary to my question about the threading, is the headset included and if so what is it? -
• #20
Ok, will sort out photos later.
The headset is Campag Record and I was planning on keeping it for the winter bike that will replace this frameset. Open to discussion though.

• #21
Can I assume the BB is italian?
-
• #22
Pretty sure that it's English.
-
• #23
Potentially interested if you could send some closeups of the rusted bits. Could collect from London.

Here's a couple of photos.
Oh, and apologies that I missed it above but it is a 27.2 post.

New frame coming and need to clear some space so this has to go.
Joe Waugh Gold Medal frameset in Columbus Max (lugged and fillet brazed - both really nice), 64cm c-t and 59.5 cm c-c on the top tube (below picture is in full build mode).
The frame looks fine from a distance but up close there is plenty of patina but it's all cosmetic and there aren't any dents or dings. You could ride it as it is although the quality of the frame would lend itself well to a respray. All threads are fine.
£130 collected from Hereford, can post at cost (and can probably get it to London for collection if that helps).
