Nice one Ian, love the bit about carrier bikes on the third scan. "one can only... marvel at their survival" sounds like the early forties from the tone.

"On occasions one can only gasp at their crass stupidity and marvel at their survival."
'Is it time to start calling out bad cyclists?' thread >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Just stumbled upon this little book I inherited from my father/grandfather. It's called "HOW TO DRIVE A CAR", by the editor of "The Motor" - but it doesn't give a name or indeed a date. I reckon it's from shortly after the war. The strapline is "An authoratative treatise dealing with the safe handling of a motor car under all conditions of road travel"
Anyway, thought you might find the following passages interesting/funny. I particularly like bit on Taxi Drivers.
