For Sale: Lovely Fixed Gear/Single Speed Bike

Posted on
  • Here I have for sale my latest creation. It’s a Single Speed or FixedGear bike with Brakes. I spent many hours and ££’s getting this bike from a dirty old frame to this lovely finished product. I have to say I am extremely pleased with the outcome and I’m sure it will do its new owner proud for many years tocome.

It is a Large frame. Dimensions are below. I am 6ft2 and I have had a quick test ride on it at the saddle height shown. If I was keeping it then I would probably raise it by a couple of cm’s. It’s a very relaxed position and rides really nice and smooth.

I don’t want to post it, so collection only thanks. I am happy to meet in the SW of London but no further than that. Any questions at all or anything I’ve forgotten then drop me a line, test rides/inspections more than welcome.

    Price: £650

Details of the bike with reused parts first then new parts, andthen more pics below.

    Cheers,

    Dan

Peugot Elan GT Frame stripped and resprayed by Armourtex Ltd in Hackney. Gloss Orange finish(2 coats of paint) Flawless finish, they did a fantastic job!

Original Headset that has been polished up to the best of my ability and the bearings have been checked and regreased.

Original Seatpost. Few little scratches, but polished up nice and shiny. The saddle clamp is also the original one. It was very rusty and I have got rid of 99% of the rust and grime and it looks really nice now. I tried to take a pic but it didn’t really come out very well.

Tyres, Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700x28c I had these on a hybrid bike for a couple hundred miles. They are in excellent condition, these tyres are renowned for being very puncture resistant. They also have the reflective strip all the way around the tyre.

Vintage Dura Ace FC 7701 Crankset 175mm crankarm lengths. In excellent condition, some slight wear to the ‘Dura Ace’ Decals but still looks great.

Wellgo LU964 Pedals. Removed from the same Bike as the Tyres having done the same milage. I have the toe clips and reflectors for these pedals if you would like those too?

EVERYTHING LISTED BELOW IS BRAND NEW

Wheels-42mm ‘Blue Label’ Rims with Quando hubs. The rear is a flip flop hub. With a 16T Dicta freewheel and 16T Velo Solo Track cog. The braking surface is also black.

  • He he he :) Nice one

  • so......no splitting then?

  • £650?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dibs schwalbe tyres

  • Hi Dseddon1,
I really like your sweet fixie.
I don't have £650 though, nor do I need a new biek. Can I dibs the seatclamp bolt please?
Could you please tell me what brand it is though?
Also you refer to this as your "latest creation", do you restore these for a job? If so, maybe you should donate something to the forum.
    kthxbye

  • Ok, so...

No I wont be splitting it down at all. I got to the price by adding up all the parts and it came to almost exactly 650, if it has to go for less then I will consider reasonable offers.
Are you asking what brand the bike is or the clamp?
This is my first build that I never intended keeping, Ive built my own bikes before. I have a full time job. If i sell through this forum I will definitely make a donation. If i can get most of my money back I intend to start another one soon. Its not about making money, otherwise i'd probably be on about 50p an hour :-P

    Dan :)

  • quando hubs + orange chain do it for me !

  • ebay >>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Yeh i will consider the Bay if i have to :-SSSSSS

    Dan :)

it took you 1300 hours to build that thing?

  • Yeh i will consider the Bay if i have to :-SSSSSS

you wont get £650 on here !

  • Lose the chain or I fear it may receive some time in the anti thread...!

  • Here we go again...

  • or nowhere near 650
something like this can be build for around 300£

  • Just so you are aware Dseddon1, this bike (1989 w original Dura Ace parts):

Has the same asking price as yours. If you don't want to split it you will just end up creating popcorn here if you persist.

  • wow

  • lol away you fucking go pal

  • Sort of getting the impression you dont agree with my price, lol. Im open to offers. That bike with the DA is apples and pears, imo. And something like this Cannot be built for 300 to the same spec and quality. #fact. Its cool, if noone is interested i'll have to find somewhere else to sell it. In the meantime swearing and being a condescending twat, like @Bleakreference is, i dont think is called for. :-)

  • Sing it with me now.

  • The Dura ace ROAD crankset is OK at best, it's nothing special. The rest of the components are poor though, so no it's not worth 650, nowhere near in fact, and if you spent that much on that built then you have been ripped off my friend!

  • I really feel for you here. you've spent time and effort on something. It doesn't look too bad (apart from the chain). It is however a beater frame with bits and pieces picked up along the way.

The problem is, this forum doesn't like to say "sorry, that's too expensive and you're aiming at wrong audience here". Many people would rather say "fuck off with tha piece of shit! Lol".

I'd close the thread befoe it gets nasty.
