I would say that Vitus is probably a bit on the cheap side, but it doesn't have decals so maybe not.
Unfortunately too big for me otherwise I'd have it off you! -

That virus is totally under priced! Snap it up someone tall!

Cheers. (Stay clear of that virus though everyone.)
Those Vitus 979 frames do have a certain old-fashioned futuristic charm. -

Have an unneeded bump for a fantastic deal!!

Here's picture of the chainstay rubbed bit, and also of the bottom of the bottom bracket for the frame number: F075222, if that's any use for dating.
Looking at the bottom bracket again, I've realized it's French (35x1) - which might put some people off. Mind you, there is a Stronglight BB in place and included, so hopefully not too much of a hassle for anyone.

I have a french Shimano BB, but with very long axle - 122mm
-
• #14
If only the vitus was a 56cm seat tube!
-
• #15
Is the BB in ridable condition? If it is and its compatible with contemporary campag/shimano sets then im still v. interested. if its going to be a nightmare then obviously a little put off but if it doesnt need removing and its got a bit of life in it then all good i suppose?
-
• #16
was there ever a decent chain set fitted on this bb that you would be able to sell alongside? m. thanks
-
• #17
The Stronglight BB seems to be in good condition.
I would have thought a standard square taper crankset would fit - not sure about comtemporary ones. It used to have Shimano 105 cranks on it, but I don't have them any more. -
• #18
At least I thought I didn't. I found a Shimano 105 golden arrow crankset 38/52 in my box of bits which I think might have been on the Vitus - it's certainly about the right era. It's OK condition, some scuffs and some life left in the teeth - could be polished up nicely. I'd be happy to throw that in for, say, £20 on top.

is vitus 979 tubing diameter 28mm?
-
• #22
I've had a few questions about these, so more detail below (you live and learn):
Union is provisionally sold, pending pick up and payment (but I'll put the info anyway so I don't forget)
120 mm rear spacing
Seatpost 27 mm
English thread BBVitus 979
120 mm rear spacing
25.0 mm seatpost (apparently this is fairly unusual, but I know Kalloy make them, Campag used to)
28 mm tubing diameter (interested in the significance of this)
French thread on BB (but Stronglight BB included)
If any of these dimensions seem wrong, or odd, let me know and I'll re-measure. Anything else let me know.

The union now look like this:
1 Attachment
For sale: two frames
Columbus 3 tubi
Some scratches and paint chips, chrome in pretty good condition for age, some small areas of rust (look superficial to me). It would clean up better than it currently looks. Campagnolo dropouts.
Comes with Sugino bottom bracket and Campagnolo headset - both pretty smooth.
For more information about this really lovely Dutch frame, see this post by RIH, who has sold a few of these: www.lfgss.com/thread59548.html
Unfortunately this frame is just too big for me, otherwise I'd do something with it. (If anyone has the same frame in 56 let me know.)
£90 NOW £80
Vitus aluminium tubing. Some rub marks on frame, the worst being on the rear chain stay. Comes with Stronglight headset (a bit stiff) and Stronglight bottom bracket (fairly smooth), and Spidel shifters.
£80 NOW £70
Hope the prices seem fairly reasonable. Let me know if I'm out. (I'll be donating to the forum if these are sold.)
Collection only from Brockley, SE London.
Dibs followed by PM.
