I have this chainset (170mm, too) but pre-Hollowtech2 (so square taper). Unfortunately it's a fair bit scratched up, and the rings are worn out... Pretty sure you could take the rings off this and put it on there, though.
If you're super desperate I'll take pics tomorrow and you can let me know.

That would be awesome!
As long as the threads are ok then it's fine - I'll probably just strip and polish.
I'll drop you a PM.
Hi,
I've got a brand new Shimano Deore M590 Triple Chainset. It has external/outboard bearings and the threads have gone on my BB. So I need a threadless, which means square tapper.
Specs:
Silver with black rings
Teeth: 26 / 36 / 48t
Length: 170mm
Includes bottom bracket
Exactly the same as: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=40496&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=Shopping&utm_name=UnitedKingdom
The ideal would be swapping for something as close to the above but which takes a square tapper.
Equally though, a classic looking compact - something like mid-late 90s shimano would be ok.
Let me know what you got.
Before Sat would be amazing!
