According to Twitter, a female cyclist has been taken to hospital after being hit by a left turning lorry. Apparently she has a 'lower limb crush injury':

Saw the aftermath, bike front wheel crushed. Police taped off 100 yards of The Strand eastbound. Hope she's ok.

The helpful bystanders were bandaging her foot just before the ambulance arrived, so with any luck that's the extent of it. Still shit, but could be much worse. The bike was properly fucked.

Yeah, turns out this is a mate of mine from uni. Given the news headline and picture from Twitter, you can imagine how relieved I was to hear she's well enough to text that's she's ok. I guess that's ok given the circumstances - lorries aren't very forgiving...

Fingers crossed for a quick recovery. I'm hoping to catch up with her soon.

Thanks for all who've posted - this has been a vital source of information for a disparate *(sic) group of friends.
