+1.
Bueller? Anyone?
-
• #3
often needed, but never seem to be available
yet they just unscrew and fall out
you can buy replacement bars and rubber seals but not the caps
grrrr
-
• #4
I've been running the pedals for a while without one; keep getting rocks wedged in there. Really not going well on the search either...
-
• #5
have you not also noticed a huge amount of lateral play? the cap helps load the pedal bearings too
-
• #6
Yeah, but I've got used to it now, though. Also means that - due to the lateral play - the seal nearest the crank pops itself out every now and then, and needs a total reassembly to slot back in properly. It's more hassle than I'd expected tbh.
-
• #7
it can also be very bad for your knees
-
• #8
Honestly can't say I've noticed, but that's probably down to the fact that these are my first set of clipless. Despite all the unwanted play, they still feel much more secure than anything I've ever ridden up to now.

^ This. It's getting annoynig. And a bit squeaky.
Should have done some pedal maintenance before the Dunwich Dynamo ...

I was looking for the dust cap/lateral spacer for some Rocs, and found http://www.cycleclubsports.com/p-17734-time-atac-xs-axle-cap.aspx - it says they're for the Atac XS, but they fit the Roc fine.
Looking at a pic of Aliums, it might be the same part ... Got four delivered for twenty dollars - took a bit over a week I think.
(And I used just a drop of Loctite when I fitted them ..._

Ordered one from here: https://secure.ukbikestore.co.uk/product/177/tf120/time-alium-axle-end-cap.html
Should turn up next week - I'll confirm if it's correct or not.
-
• #12
i am not sure if the atac and alium end caps are the same
-
• #13
atac
alium end cap -
• #14
Happy to believe they're not the same, but a Google search for "time alium" gives a shopping link that shows
The lower pic above is also shown as an end cap for the Cyclo/Z pedal at http://www.cycleclubsports.com/p-16065-time-axle-locking-cap-cycloz-pedal.aspx - actually, they also note it fits the Alium. Different generations of Alium, maybe.
UK suppliers better though I guess - I just couldn't find any when I was looking for caps for the Roc

=====
From UKBikeStoreHi,
We are very sorry for the delay to your order. I have chased this order up with our suppliers and it seems that the product has been discontinued by the manufacturer, meaning we will not be able to get any in for you.
I have gone ahead and cancelled your order and refunded your payment via PayPal.
Again we are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by this order.

I'll try elsewhere.

I've emailed all the available Time distributors in the UK.
First to reply that can take a definite order for 10 will get my business ...
So who needs the ones marked as "Alium" above, and who needs the "XS"?
-
• #25
atac xs for me please, possibly a couple
Just as title says, Alium dust-cap if there's one going, or if you know where I can acquire one. I'd be willing to pay up to £5 inc. p+p.
Thanks.
