Wanted: Mavic Open pro rim

Just seeing if anyone has anything before i buy from a shop.

I recently bought a set of wheels off someone on the forum (mavic open pro/system ex hubs) & i have broken 6 or 7 spokes on the front wheel in about 2 months.

Anyone be able to tell why this keeps happening? happened today whilst braking..
always at the hub.

Front rim is fairly worn so just going to rebuild with new spokes.

bad wheel build. Uneven spoke tensions will do that. 6 or 7 is shocking, who built them?

I know its ridiculous. Never broken a spoke on any other wheelset i've ever had!

The guy said they were built by cadence bike shop in bath.

That's shocking. To the point of being dangerous.

Those rims are on sale at the moment. It my have been CRC or Wiggle.

This is ridiculous, especially for a front wheel. If it was a low spoke wheel and heavily dished it would make more sense. 32h front wheels are very strong and dependable.

Ive had some gnarly hits from all sides of my wheels from cars, smashing into kerbs and getting side slams in polo etc. Straight on hits never even bend the wheels, side hits pringle wheels badly but spokes have never snapped on me.

Your wheel must've been built very poorly. Perhaps they used the wrong holes for the spokes on the rim?

Yeah need one with good braking surface. I'll just get a new one i think.

Thinking i might upgrade the front hub while i'm at it.... Anyone recommend something better than a system ex hub? I'm commuting on it and rides on the weekends.
