I'd rather have broken a bone.
This is so much more painful and I can't eat!!!! (that's a big deal to me, I eat alot lol) -

put your bike (if geared) on as close to 28/18 as you can and then pedal as fast as you can until you spin out and imagine hitting the shale.
You wouldn't have thought it would do this much damage, but it did.

I once went out for a trip to see a mate who's only a mile away. Took a lid by mistake (didn't use to for short rides) but had a nasty spill and broke a big chunk out of it.
I now wear one even for short trips.
Thanks for the post, hope you heal up nice and quick. -

I'd rather have broken a bone.
Whooaa those bones in face are there for a reason! Fractured skull can lead to any myriad of life threatening things.
Although I didn't realise it was that painful :S
Taking painkilllers? -

ouch, heal strong.

Gosh that looks painful. Heal up well.

Taking painkilllers?I already have a myriad of things wrong with me, add to that an immunity to morphine, local anaesthetic and a built up immunity to iburprofens, aspirins and paracetomol. I just have to ride this pony out.
Love my sippy cup, hating putting bonjela on my inside lip, burns like hell but enables me to speak a little and eat something.... not sure the pain is worth the little bit of food.

I'm sorry that you we're hurt, it looks terrible. But how do you feel the helmet helped you here? When I'm riding I am usually most concerned about facial injuries, and that makes me more likely to forget my helmet..
Not to start a debate or anything, just wondering.
-

I was wondering, do you usually wear a full face helmet? It appears most of the impact occurred below your eyeline, and I am not sure how much a normal helmet would have protected against this happening.
Heal up fast, I hope it has not put you off riding.

Ohhh ouch.

Hi guys,
I was infact wearing a helmet when this happened, a skate style one. If I hadn't of had it on, given the level of concussion i'd imagine there would be more serious injuries, I may even have lost my eye.
However this was a £15 lid which I bought as a spare, since writting off my Met Parachute I've been using that.
I will now only ever wear a full face lid. Commuting or whatever, If I sweat I can drink water, if I grind my face which I have, I can't even drink, yawn, blink without pain at the moment and you want to try sneezing!!!!

...I havn't shed a tear or sworn yet..
You know it's bad when you're too shaken up to cry/swear/get angry. Look after yourself, and heal up soon.

Terrible situation. Get well soon :)

As above. get well soon!
my other half is still resting up after high siding slipping on a recessed man hole cover leaving her with a broken collarbone and a fractured skull.
needless to say I have now bought myself a helmet. -
• #21
Heal up, simps.

Those are disturbing pictures. I bought a helmet a while back after a couple of crashes so I tend to wear it now. Not that I like wearing it or feel that it is always needed.
Anyway hope it all heals up and you aren't left with any scaring.

Heal up well, I've had similar abrasions in the past and I found with gravel rash like that you should get away without any scarring, apart from your lip which will probably have a lump in it...

That is pretty ordinary that the hospital didn't dress your wounds.

Said it on FB, but heal up soon Simps. Wish I hadn't missed you on the night!
Take care of your self!
well I managed to achieve a smashed up face with a lid on and all I did was highside. I'm hoping to scare some of you trendies with my ugly face into getting a lid
Stable - horse - bolted.
I ate dirt on Wednesday... I hope this picture conveys the pain i'm in and how much we should all get lids.
I KO'd myself after a nasty high side during Speedway training.
when I came round I lept to my feet, proclaimed I was fine before passing out again.
The hospital did nothing other than xray me, leaving my skin full of shale.
When I got home I had a 3 hour soak in the bath to get all the clagg out my face, this is what I then looked like
Realising I have a hole in my nose I could smuggle drugs across borders in and two huge slits in my eyebrow and eye socket I went to see my friend's wife who's a nurse for some butterfly stitches
Today the infection is tryng to take over so i'm mostly sponsoring savlon
still shale and dirt is coming out, so i'm keeping up the savlon until the infection has gone, then i'll allow the scabs to take over.
I also grazed all of the inside of my bottom lip, which is possibly the most painful thing ever, imagine an ulcer the size of all of your lower jaw area and that's about it.
today's picture
I'm quite tempted to sneak up on people in Tesco with my 'better' side towards them, then turn and face them and slurr ''brrraaaiinnnsss'' and see if I can make anyone scream. the only thing putting me off is the thought someone might hit me in my squishy eye socket. I havn't shed a tear or sworn yet, that might tip me over that edge.
anyone got a blender/smoothie maker I can borrow :(
