Giant TCR build

  • Hi All,

I've had my 2003 Giant TCR Composite 1 for a couple of years now. I thought I would change it up a bit and stealth it out.
It originally started out like this,

Here it is in it's usual training form

I got inspired by a build I saw on another forum

So to the changes I'm currently doing on it. Scraped / sanded off the white and red stripes. Currently have it wetsanded at 600grit, will do another lot at 800 grit once I get some more time. Looking for a clear coat or wax to seal it once I'm done sanding, any recommendations?

I have also removed the paint at the top of the seat post, but no photo sorry.
Race wheels that will go in it are as shown above, but have removed the graphics off them too cause I think they looked disgusting and the reds didn't match.

Unsure if I'll keep the 50FC on them or not, will decide later most likely.
The bike will be built up with what was already on it. Ultegra (wish I could afford some shifters with internal cabling), prologo seat, specialized stem+bars.
Still in search of some new cables. Either in white or black. Something with good performance but not expensive. Currently just eyeing up the standard Shimano set.

Will post more as I go, hope you enjoy!

  • Looking good :D wish I had the balls to sand carbon!!!

    Good ridge cables are cheap??

  • Doesn't seem to be too much interest here ( I can probably see why), but for those interested, I've got a bit more work done, mainly out of necessity as I need a functional bike to ride.
Cabled up using Alligator Sleek Cable set. Not as fancy as some sets but I got it at a decent price, and the black inner cables are a nice touch. Went for white over black as I thought it would look alright.

Still got a tad of sanding to do on the wheels, its a pretty laborious process and I don't have huge amount of down time since I've got exams coming up at university soon.

  • It's amazing the difference a few logos makes. Looks good, one day I might get bored enough to delogo my Giant.

  • +1 for removing the wheel logos, but a man's only got so much time I know.
