cromovelato. how much?

  • Hey guys,

It was just a thought, but I've got a nice frame that would look great like this... http://www.pedalroom.com/bike/wilier-cromovelato-788.

so I was wondering where I could get a frame and forks cromovelato'ed and how much it would be.

I guess it's a bit of a longshot and expensive, but any info would be appreciated.

    thanks!
    Wayne

  • Is the frame already chromed?

  • there's a reason why columbus refuse to allow bike manufacturers to chrome their tubes now. I like it on classic bikes but I wouldn't pay for it to get done to one that it wasn't original on, but that's just me-for a full bike you'd be looking at a couple of hundred quid anyway going by Mercian's prices.

  • unfortunately the frame isn't chromed. Shame that.

  • Full chrome on its own is about £450

  • That's not cromovelato. That's ramato. You can only find vintage bikes like that cause now, in Italy at least, to do that stuff is forbidden cause of its pollutions...

  • This one was refinished in Italy just last year.

  • I've had better quotes for full chroming, not confirmed though

This is cromovelato. The Wilier like that one are usually ramato. It means they use rame (copper) doing it.
