• Hello,

A friend asked me to help him find a nice steel racer seeing that I'm more into bikes than himself.

He needs a road bike in full working order and very good condition (so that he wouldn't have to spend any time/money on repairs), colour doesn't matter, components don't matter too much, just something very reliable, not very old and not too heavy (possibly carbolite / reynolds / columbus tubing).
He thought of a single speed conversion to avoid gear problems, but decided he might not be fit enough to ride it…

He's 5'11" so I assumed size 56-57cm/22' would be suitable?

The vintage Batavus that I could hardly lift nearly collapsed while he was riding it, so anything more than 40 yrs old would probably be shunned.

His top price is £200, but he'd be prepared to pay a bit more if the bike's really good and will serve him for a while.
He's based in Dalston, or we work near Notting hill gate, so if someone has a bike nearby that would be perfect.

Would be grateful for any help. Feel free to email tutu@theday.co.uk or PM.
    Thanks
    Tutu

Thanks for offer – sorry but have to say no for the moment, judging by the picture components are a bit too vintage and might need servicing, and tyres probably replaced. Though correct me if I'm mistaken – and what would be your price? What is the light tubing (if not the same as forks) and size?
    Cheers
