Does this just involve spamming lots of fora or is this something interesting?
I'm available tomorrow and Friday but I'm not interested in spamming anyone.

@johnny NO i'm not spamming people. that's counter productive. I have no interest in posting to irrelivant people / sites / etc.,
Its not the way I want to get the message out about the big ride to as many people as possible in the london area - cyclists, families, walkers etc.,
I want to reach the local communities forums, the mums and dads, the people in your offices who see you cycle in and wish they could but are nervous to.
and I also need to be able to monitor / engage / get feedback on the video itself so I'm asking for people to reach out to their contacts and friends whom i wouldn't necessarily be able to reach myself.
Its a positive message about changing london's roads..

I wouldn't mind doing it for free, can even post on some of my uni groups which have a large audience.
So post a video to people on my fb and get some feedback/comments from them?

I'm still not clear on what you want but it sounds like something that is worthwhile.
Good luck!

This is the link!! You may recognise "little Fruitbat junior" and the lovely ms.photoben...

sent it directly to a few friends at uni who cycle, then to a group with a 1000 people subbed from my med school.
One person commented on the fact a lot of people in the video aren't wearing helmets, and that the campaign is unlikely to be taken seriously as a result, an argument ensued, you can have the fb discussion if you're interested haha
-
• #18
I'd love too have the discussion... more talk the better :)
personally I think helmets are a personal choice - I decide daily whether to wear or not.. -

argh.. counter on You Tube seems broken now.. we've been sitting at 305 for 20 mins.

Friend barely anyone in that video wearing a fuggin helmet!
good luck with your being taken seriously goals of 2012
Jordan Carroll It's not necessary to wear one in the UK!
Cue argument about helmets or not, e.g. research showing cars drive more aggressively around those who wear helmets, how helmet laws have stunted the number of people cycling and may as a result cause a net reduction in welbeing (deaths due to lack of helmet < deaths due to lack of exercise etc)[Friend](https://www.facebook.com/harrison.ferguson/posts/221221441313445?comment_id=868272) that study was poorly controlled! I wanna see a randomised longitudinal study or helmets vs no helmets, controled for gender
whats the law in holland for helmets?[Jordan Carroll I doubt it seeing as wiki quotes them as having the lowest level of helmet use (research from teh bike helmet research foundation)[

They also mention the possibility that helmets would make cycling more dangerous by giving cyclists a false sense of safety and thus encouraging riskier riding behavior."[

The point is those who feel safe but are being stopped from cycling because of having to wear a helmet is an injustice, let people decide what "risk" (assuming there is actually less risk of injury/death by wearing a helmet, the jury's still out) they'd like to take, but for god's sake cycle![

Whilst it could be more stringent the difference between passing distance of vehicles wearing helmet or not is significant

wow^
cycling in the netherlands is (i would imagine) safer than in london, both because of the infrastructure and the general attitude instilled in you from youth.I believe that helmets should be a choice. i wouldn't judge either choice, just be glad they're cycling. (as jordan has pointed out)
I see this campaign, the Vote with you bike and the Scottish Pedal on Pariliament all as very strong indicators that the cycling issue needs to be considered more seriously by whichever candidate gains power in the election.
there's 30,000 people signed up on the Love London, Go Dutch petition and the others all have similar numbers. I can't see how wearing a helmet or not in the video could make a difference in whether or not the government takes our message seriously or not. -

ps. the counter is updating but not in real time.. this morning it was showing 1800+ views which is amazing. I'd like to keep spreading the message... many thanks to everyone who helped so far.

argh.. counter on You Tube seems broken now.. we've been sitting at 305 for 20 mins.
It freezes at that number in the first few days, it's not real.
Tomorrow i'm starting a social media campaign. I'm looking for a few people who aren't at work tomorrow and possibly friday and have internet access to help me.
I'm happy to either pay you individually per link or to translate that into a forum donation on your behalf.
PM me.
