You could always volunteer to marshall if the fee is a problem, get in touch with missmouse.
I'm probably going to miss this as I'm riding to Bletchley earlier on, but I'd really like to. :(

It would have been nice if they had made that clear from the start. A free night out for the family is now going to cost me £40!

Breaking news! LONDON VELONOTTE PAYMENT ABOLISHED!
Just received this from the event director -
"Dear Alex we've decided to abolish the payment procedure. Can I ask you to inform your friends about it? Possibly via mailing as well? Sorry for inconvenience...
We've also published the comic starmap of our route - http://velonotte.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/london-velonotte-comic-starmap-by-dasha.html
Hope you'd like it!
best, Sergey" -

Good news and fair play to the organisers;
*Dear London friends,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by our not-really-well thought out decision to introduce a "participation fee" for the London Velonotte.
This decision was based on a misunderstanding - we are part of the large festival (we have never participated in events as grand as London
Architecture Festival) and there are so many forms and types of visitor
involment strategies that we got carried away a bit. Every one who kindly paid the fee will be reimbursed. Our Velonotte was and is free for everyone to join, and, besides, we really do not want to make London more expensive than it already is!))By the way, we are still looking for MARSHALLS. Some of my Russian biking friends were refused British visas... Thursday evening, 6-30 PM we are going to make a testdrive of the route. Write me back, if you would like to join us for the recce. We really need your help!
See you at the Velonotte London!

ditto - even if I'm back in good time, would never swing it with the missus to leave our friends' bbq early and spend another night away riding!

Discover public buildings and spaces evolution in the East End with London Velonotte, a great Midsummer night bike tour featuring Trinity Laban strings dawn performance at Canary Wharf!
From Dickens to Olympics, London VeloNotte will showcase landmarks of the rapidly changing Great Wild East. Avanguard and traditional social-housing, marketplaces, theaters, churches and parks.
A simultaneous broadcast on art radio station Resonance 104.4fm will feature Velonotte guides including Peter Ackroyd, John Marriott, Richard Rogers, Ricky Burdett, David Adjaye, Sergey Romanyuk, Valentin Dyakonov and Peter Murray. Bring a portable FM radio to tune in en route.
Velonotte series is born in Moscow and Rome and has been brought to Britain to celebrate LFA 2012 and Olympic games.
Meeting at Brushfield street, London E1 at 23'30...And for those who survive 28 kms-long ride, we are throwing a party at the dawn at Canary Wharf East Wintergarden, with English 5 o’clock tea - in the morning!
just to say Brushfield street not St Pauls...
I'm helping organise the first London edition of Velonotte, a free, mass participation architectural / historical / musical bike ride around the city and east end. Velonotte started life in Moscow and has since taken place in Rome, New York and St Petersburg.
The ride will start at St Pauls at 23.30 on Saturday 23 June. The route goes east and will end with a 20 piece orchestra greeting the dawn as the riders arrive at the London Pleasure Gardens in Docklands.
I'll be anchoring a simultaneous live broadcast from Resonance FM, and all participants will have radio headsets to tune in along the way to short talks at particular locations, soundscapes and music. If you'd like to help out with that - and have some radio or sound design experience - get in touch.
