  • It's that time of the year L's & G's. Time to get back out on the blacktop that surrounds London. This year both Des Balmain and Ben Jam have steeped up to the plate and volunteered to organise the rides. I can't thank these two enough for that and I will Definitely be out there with you as often as work allows and look forward to seeing everyone out there again. I know that Des and Ben will be on here shortly to announce the first of many rides. Long may this continue.

  • Spring is springing and the joys of TNRC has returned, the year has made a turn for the better.

  • I don't know if / when you intend to use the Kent route out of St Mary Cray but I rode part of that ride today and Bower Lane is a mess in places with lots of potholes.

  • 'challenging' is the word you are looking for

  • Nights grows short and days grows long and so grows the sense of sin
    kidnapped by aliens and stumblin'in.
I haven't filled up my tank in weeks
I stored shotgun shells in my cheeks.
A loaf of bread and a jug of routine
    long may this not continue.

  • As posted on the 2011 thread I won't be able to take part in many TNRCs this year, but if I can I will gladly lead out a Kent ride whenever possible.

  • Hey guys, while Des and I will be handling the organisation side of things we're hoping the tnrc elders will be happy to lead and backstop their favourite routes when possible. We're also looking forward to seeing some new, friendly faces out on the road. Things will be kicking off mid-march, more details to follow.

  • Sam, that's a shame you are indeed the Kent Jedi master! Hope to see you when schedule permits!

  • Ah, time to start working on my posts-to-ride (deliberately omitting the plural 's' based on past form) ratio.

  • Ah, time to start working on your hit (deliberately omitting the up-front 's' based on past form) ratio.

  • I might do (lead) one or two. Tempted to make them fixed only though.

  • Sounds good, having never been on a tnr previously I'd be interested in trying this out... put me on the list...

    yes please!

No, it doesn't work like that: wait for a new ride list to go up (about a week in advance) and get in there quick.

  • and then drop out at the last minute

  • or turn up without a light

  • Where is Mashton?

  • here?

  • or here...burning himself

  • and then drop out at the last minute

    Guilty!

or turn up without a light

    Never!

  • Lights are for wimps.

  • How about turning up with a light that then gives up the ghost because of water penetration?

I'm very definitely up for Kent rides and, I hope, some further afield.

  • That time of year already? How about a Surrey starter? Always good to start with a classic.

  • Tuesday's will be difficult for me this year, but if anyone wants to learn the E4 route on a Wednesday night, let me know.

  • I was scouting a new route myself the other day. Mainly off road, through tunnels nearly a kilometre long. Bats, badgers and deer. Downside is that it is in the middle of the Peak District.
