Shit - bad luck there. Nice looking build though.
Go to ebay and search for "Campagnolo 9 speed derailleur" and buy the best one you can afford. Alternatively you could get a Xenon 9 speed one new...

I know, but I thought the guy I bought it from did it correctly, and as Ruud said, too late for that.
Have been looking for a 9 speed campy derailleur.
Thinking about upgrading to athena/chorus/record 9/10 speed maybe while I'm at it.Does anyone know if I have to consider compatibility with my current group if I only want to change the rear derailleur?
Bringing it to a repair shop tomorrow to see if they can true(correct english?) the rear wheel & to see if they have a campy 9 speed derailleur lying around..

chain
cassette
rear mech -

^if you want to change to 10 speed.
Stay with 9 speed and get a new derailleur.
I've got a 9 speed mirage in almost new condition.
Only a few grams heavier than my chorus one. -

I mean ive got a mirage mech that I can sell you if you like.

I've been looking at some 9 speed derailleurs and found that there are short, medium & long cage ones.
Sorry for my inexperience with road bike components, but what is the difference?
Are long ones for cassettes with greater difference between the smallest and largest cogs?EDIT: I also found people noting that the rear derailleur is for triple. Will those be compatible with double groups, because I can imagine the rear derailleur needs to adjust to what happens at the front, but does this make a big difference?

Thanks, I'll get back to you on that. Think I might prefer a derailleur daytona/centaur or higher up the campagnolo rank, but I'll have to consider that after I get my bike back form the shop.

Yes, search in the Campag catalogs onm the Campagnolo site for what cassettes what mechs are recommended..

Triple mechs are most probably long cage, but my triple 10sp group is with a medium mech.. That was with a 12-23 cassette, I hope it'll work with a 12-25.. Long mech would work for a 27plus rear cassette with a double (compact) front in my experience..

But there are formula's/rules for it.. Scrounge the Campagnolo site for the tech docs..

Thanks Ruud. Going to check those out.
EDIT: Wow, I never realized the vast quantity of the Campagnolo tech documents. If someone is looking for me, I'm browsing those documents.
In the meanwhile, does anyone have any suggestion for a glossy black 1 inch stem?

Turns out they had a 9 speed Daytona derailleur lying around at the local bikeshop. It's getting mounted & tuned (properly this time) on friday.
Seems like it's going to work out quite well. -

For that bike, don't get short, you got a compact chainset.

^ Thanks, forgot that that had to be taken in account as well. I'll call the shop to check if it is short, medium or long caged.
So I bought a complete Gazelle Special bike yesterday with a 9 speed Campagnolo Daytona gruppo and a Miche compact crankset on it.
I wasn't planning on changing a lot, apart from getting a shorter stem and maybe an other crankset, as I was satisfied with it.
So I went on my first ride today, for about 20km, just to try out the bike and when I was trying out the lowest gear, the chain skipped and got stuck between the cassette and the wheel, which caused my rear derailleur to get torn of.
This made my braze-on thingy crooked as well, but I've managed to bend that back quite all right.
So since these things happened this bike became a current project and I decided I needed some help in finding a new 9 speed derailleur for my bike. Maybe some advice on which ones would work out with the rest of my gruppo.
So if anyone has advice for me, it would help me out big time.
Cheers,
Bas
