I think that's exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks :)
Now when TF are planet x going to get them back in ...
Putting together a bike gradually at the moment, mostly from stuff found off here, based around a Dolan Track Champion frame with the plan being making a lightweight fixed road bike that I can also take onto the track.
Currently procrastinating over chainset. I'd pretty much satisfied myself that a Stronglight Track 2000 set plus matching BB, going for a steal at just £70 odd (down from £150 or so) from Planet X was an ideal buy. However, the size and colour I've been after has been out of stock for ages, and they have no idea when they are getting new stock in - and whether it'll be the same price.
While I've been waiting I've been seeing Sugino 75 and Dura Ace cranksets come and go. Certainly for more, second hand, than the Stronglight sets are advertised new, but it has led me to think should I be going for them instead?
So to cut a long story short, will paying the extra on a second hand Sugino 75 or Dura Ace crankset really give me a noticeable difference over a Stronglight Track 2000 crankset? I'll only be using it for fun rides (and the odd fair weather commute) on the road and occasional track use, but have no plans to take any of it to competition level.
