  • A lorry and cyclist collision. Anyone got further info? When i cycled past at 7pm, chunk of road was blocked off and situation looked bad. A whole bunch of police cars, ambulance, fire bergade... Massive lorry in middle of the road. Still blocked off as of 10pm. Really hope the cyclist will be ok.

  • Has it been confirmed as a fatality?

    I really hope not.

  • +1

  • ..please no.

  • Sorry no, not definitely confirmed. Edited. But the police woman's responses were not good...

  • Sheeeeeeeet. Hope they are ok. That is my way home and about the same time too.
    Positive thoughtd

  • I must have just missed this. What time did you pass? Hope it's nothing too serious

Quote: Incident on Southwark Bridge Road yday was a female cyclist in crash with a lorry. She had a leg injury but is ok, Met Police tell me. #phew

  • get well soon rider.

  • this alll happens to much.... lorry down FFS

  • I live directly opposite this accident & was home when it happened.

She will survive; however her legs are definitely broken. Lorry was too long to be passing anyone on that corner. She was also wearing as much fluro/lights as I've ever seen. I don't know who was truly at fault but lorries of that size should not be on this road.

Lorry stopped on her legs and her rear wheel, then reversed off. Driver was pretty shaken up. I didn`t see the accident happen but when I got down there his wheels were in the cyclehighway. I took some photos just in case.

Wishing her (Kate) a full recovery.

  • Thanks for the update Jamie.
    Wishing Kate a full recovery.

  • Thanks Jamie.
I hope she gets well soon.
    I agree with you that

lorries of that size should not be on this road.

  • on radio five live bbc . right now phone-in discussion on cyclist in london and who their safety is the responsibility of

  • .

This isn't the place for a comment like this, and unless you actually saw the incident, you really have no place making a judgement like that.

  • I've just edited jamie's post as it included unfounded reports of what happened.

I'd like to echo Bill's post, these Rider Down threads are not the place for speculation about what happened. A lot of these incidents end up in court and we should not be discussing it in such a way that it might affect such cases, especially when we're dealing with speculation.

Further, the family and friends of those involved often read these threads, and the result can be emotionally traumatic to read falsities that transform the roles of those involved in the incidents.

  • Understood; apologies.
