Its columbus Gara, bottom of the range as far as i can tell. I'm not that bothered tbh at 62cm it was never going to be a weight weenie build.
GARA
Road set especially suited for amateur and touring cyclists who demand stout, lightweight racing frames. Cr Mo Steel - Weight: 2300 gmaybe the thicker tubes will make it less bendy at this large scale
what I would do to a track frame with that paint job.....
I know, i love blue to purple fades, the only thing i would change about it would be if it faded from purple at the front to blue at the back in one big framewide change as opposed to on the individual tubes, can't have everything though.

for chainset try and stay with square taper, something like this nice 10sp daytona would be perfect > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Campagnolo-Daytona-10-Speed-Chainset-39-53-/310319564681?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&var=&hash=item8e0887a01b < and would match ergopower builds in early 2000's

Condor have in the sale veloce cranksets for £40 i believe.

Yeah I was thinking I'd stick to square taper to keep a more traditional look.
However I'm not sure if my budget will stretch to brand new parts, I was thinking I'd buy an older centaur or chorus chainset and re-polish I, there's nothing to stop me doing that is there?
something like this?

i'll give them a ring at lunch cheers for letting me know.
Just bought a seatpost too btw;needs a clean up but I always enjoy a bit of sanding and polishing.
i know this is way down the road but i was thinking of getting elite Ciussi bottle cages:
they'll match quite well i feel.

Well if you compare price to niceness, I think yours wins by a country mile :P

I got a Veloce chainset off ebay for about £20. I'm actually build a bike with similar specs to you. Xenon levers and rear mech, veloce BB and cranks, Daytona front mech and Tektro brakes.

pointers:
keep to ergopower ED (exa-drive) and avoid the splined chainsets of power torque and ultra drive; you won't need UD/ultrashift cabling
veloce bbs are cheap and good quality
campag headsets are bloody expensive for what they are
invest the most you can in the best second hand ergo levers
to get nice wheels can take a while, saying that these aren't bad at all > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Campagnolo-fit-handbuilt-Wheels-Ambrosio-Zenith-Hubs-Mavic-Open-Sport-rims-ACI-/270901977097?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item3f13042009http://rover.ebay.com/roverimp/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?pub=5574889051&toolid=10001&campid=5336525415&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]http://rover.ebay.com/roverimp/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&pub=5574889051&toolid=10001&campid=5336527178&customid=&item=270901977097&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]
lastly, your chainset looks perfect for the build
but the bottle cage don't, suggest these cheapo bontrager ones > http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bontrager-Hollow-6mm-Alloy-Bottle-Cages-/140568591295?pt=UK_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL&var=&hash=item66734f9749http://rover.ebay.com/roverimp/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&pub=5574889051&toolid=10001&campid=5336527178&customid=&item=140568591295&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

you cant deal with the fluro
So I need a new project to keep me occupied then I saw the listing with its rather poor photos and thought i'd take a punt, this is what the seller put up as a photo:
I won it by fluke as no one else bid and i'd only bid the minimum price, which was the princely sum of £40 (+£24 p&p). That £24 bought me the highest quality of shipping:
cling film and newspaper, both highly renowned bike protect devices. Luckily it survived its trip from france to me unscathed.
and this is what it looked like when i unwrapped it and took a photo with proper lighting:
quite a difference no?
I do currently have a road bike which i dont use mostly because i've never quite got the fit right but also because i dont like the look of it (shallow I know). So i need to get that sold so i can start the build of this. Once that's gone it means i'll have now Alu bikes left and my entire collection will be steel.
I'm thinking of building it with 9/10 speed non-carbon campagnolo. Not sure what i'm going to do for wheels yet, if i can get some cheap hubs i'll build them myself.
I know jack-shit about campag stuff so i really need to read up on compatibility of parts, as it'd be quite nice to save a bit of cash by older stuff and bodging it up to 10 speed.
I added the very first part today, the seat post bolt, i'm sure you can survive with out seeing a photo of that though.
Hopefully this will prove to be an interesting build.
