Surely that is, fixable? take out the top tube and put in a new one?
Really sorry to hear this though. Hope you're all okay?

Is it worth getting the tube replaced, might not be economical but if you love it that much would be worth it.
I would love a Simoncinni and have been keeping an eye out for one in my size for a while now, I feel your loss.

That's repairable, Mike.
Would be a real shame to see that bike retired. I've admired it, mainly from behind, many, many times.

Mercian would charge £85 + VAT to repair it, then you'd need it resprayed. I'm sure Mario Vaz would be cheaper.

Oak cycles charge £100 for a replacement top tube.
Your Simoncinni is not ready for the bin yet Mike. -

Cool. I never realised they could just change the top tube. It's a pretty clean break so that is good news. I shall look into it thanks.
I wonder how my Aluminium road frame would have faired in such an impact. Better or worse?

About the same. Bike frames, regardless of material, do not respond well to frontal impacts.

Another vote for Ryan, he's just sourced some sweet new tooling and is doing some very neat work.

^^
I think I will give Oak a shout. They are pretty near me and look good.
£100 seems to be the standard cost for top tube replacement -

Sorry to hear about the crash and thr bike but very pleased that you are fine and that you haven"t just done £10,000 worth of damage to a Lamborghini. Also really pleased that your bike can be fixed.

Is it funky tubing i.e Gilco?
-
• #15
I believe it is Deda tubing. That seems to ring a bell. I assume when they replace a top tube they will use the best steel available to them at the time and it won't upset the balance of the bike or anything. I don't know much about this stuff.
As accidents go, on a scale of 1 to 10, this was probably about a 2 so no harm done. Though I do have a bit of a headache

i wasn't sure from the photo if it was hex tubing (or whatever that stuff is) but if it's your normal round stuff, then yeah, can't see any issues.

On an injury level, if you've got a headache it might be worth getting checked out at the Doc's. Sounds similar to Whiplash type injuries, not the same but your brain has clearly whizzed around your head super fast yet very briefly.
I'm not a doctor, but if you feel nauseous aswell, to the Docs with you. Sad about your bike, hope you're all okay though. -
• #19
Yeah I thought about that thanks. Mindful of what happened to Natasha Richardson. I didn't suffer a head trauma as my shoulder and then knees took the brunt of the impact. If my headache doesn't go or gets work I will go and get it checked out

Sorry to hear mate, hope you are ok anyways. I think Oak Cycles is the best option in my opinion.

Clements Cycles deal with Simoncinni, they might be able to help with new decals if they're needed.

...Car in front of me slams on the anchors, to turn right... Then she decides she does not want to turn right... She has slammed on her brakes again...
I actually hate this and it makes me quite angry. I'm constantly getting drivers putting themselves into disappearing gaps, then having to stop quickly. Are they stupid?
Rant over.

Go get checked out - Just because you did'nt knock your head it does'nt mean your brain was'nt rattled around. Whiplash type injuries don't always mean an actual impact needs to happen to your head. I'd go get it checked out, it may seem minor and of no real significance right now but if that headache goes skitz all of a sudden...... Get checked Fella.

Mikec, how's the head? you all good?

I think he's ok. He's stopped banging on about Liverpool, but is moaning about the FA.
It's finally happened after over four years of ownership and due to one miscalculation this morning, my beautiful Simoncinni is no more
I am disappointed in myself for the manner of it's demise.
Cycling along a busy narrow street with traffic stuck on the right. Car in front of me slams on the anchors, to turn right. I move to go down the inside of it. Then she decides she does not want to turn right so accelerates past me. I look over my right shoulder to see if it is safe to rejoin the flow and am accelerating in the process when bang. She has slammed on her brakes again and I have no where to go except the rear windscreen.
Technically my fault obviously. I apologised, but there was no damage to her car and I noticed this when I got to work. Damn, I love this bike
