Really sorry to hear this Jack, I trust you have visited the A&E @ your local hospital and had a check up... I hope someone can help and bring some justice with this unfortunate incident... How on earth people driving can knock someone out on a bicycle and get away with it!

It sounds like the car passenger checked but failed to take details, and that the cyclist failed to take details.
A warning to all: Regardless of how you think it went, you MUST swap details just in case and go through the process then and there.
I hope the police turn up CCTV and can track them for you.

The police will get the registered keeper from the index or partial index. They will have to provide details of who was driving at the time of the accident. Failing to stop at the scene of an accident where a person is injured is arrestable. Remind the police that. Just keep chasing them up so you can make a claim.

Yes, this is true... it is an offence for a driver to drive off at a scene and not provide details... At the time of getting knocked off my bike I asked for the drivers details and the person drove off. Luckily a witness and got the driver's registration number and the incident went to court. The driver was found guilty on three accounts of which one was not reporting the incident... Yes, hopefully the police will follow it up and get a result for you!

With hindsight I wished I had obtain more info from the passenger – I am just glad that I came away from it the way I did.
@ Colnago Costa – Yeah A & E was the first port of call – Glued me up & sent me on my way : )
NB – After failing to find a police man on my way home – Once I got home I used the new 101
As this was certainly not 999 type of incident but didn’t think twice about calling 101. -
That is real bad luck, hope you can track them down.
I know this won't help now but I got hit by a right turning car last August and as soon as I got off the ground I started filming on the phone. Took in the plate, the guy getting out of the car, full driver description.
Driver gave me false information, no insurance or tax on the vehicle but because I had everything on the camera(sent to Police on DVD) I have a good chance of claiming on the uninsured-driver fund.
Film everything in situations like that, your brain doesn't work properly after being hit with a car.

I was hit by a Silver Smart car at about 5.45PM on Friday evening on Portland Street, I took the licence plant but as I hit my head & was
A little disoriented this could be wrong A058WSV.
I was going down Portland street towards Oxford Rd & the white car was turning from the other side of the road on to Minshull Street
Didn’t see me / look & took me out. I feel pretty lucky, cut to the back of the head a little sore & bike is fine.
I have informed the police – As my laptop is now in many , many pieces. The passenger of the car got & to check on me but rather than
Taking any more details I just wanted to get home. On my return to home I check my bag to find laptop totalled.
I am hoping that the incident was caught on CCTV – The police have informed that the 2 council CCTV cameras where both
Facing the wrong way at the time of the incident, But I hoping that the building / bar camera’s would have caught it.
If on your travels you see this car or any white smart car could you please inform me via PM of licence plate & location. I work in the NQ
& can be anywhere in town pretty quickly.
