Tequila is like a kebab - a good idea at the time.

Kebabs get a bad rap... They are fucking good.

bad wrap?

A kebab is nothing more than a catchers' mitt with shavings of elephants leg and garlic sauce so strong it kills your tastebuds for at least three days.
Never, ever order anything with "Chefs Special Sauce"...

I wouldn't recommend Jose Curvo for anything other than use as a solvent.
Now this, on the other hand:

with tequila it is mainly about the quantity consumed rather than the quality.
tequila always makes a party.

Different strokes I guess.
I really liked the aged Tequila that you find sometimes in places like The Player/Match Bar.
One thing that I actually quite miss, that and a good port.

The early years of The Player with Dick Bradsell at the helm are right up there with some of the haziest memories I have.

Jose Cuervo actualy make some of the best mass produced tequila. Reserva de la Familia is more akin to an aged whisky with notes of vanilla and cinnamon.
Try looking for the Don Julio 1942, the 1800 milenio reserva, or something similar if you want to educate yourself about fine tequilas. They should be sipped from a medium balloon glass, with water on the side to cleanse the palate. Salt and lime should never be employed in the presence of real tequila.

My uncle used to drop some amazing tequila off when he visited from Arizona. Can't remember what it was called but it was delicious.
I think tequila's my favorite spirit, but its kinda a tie with good Rum. -
