We could have a ride over one day if people are up for it.

Damit! You do this just after I've moved back to Cov! ;)
Trains to Leam are easy if people don't want to ride over and then do another 16 miles. It's also a bit shit riding over to Leam in the evening rush hour without shit loads of lights. I know I'm really out of shape at the moment. Cycling 3 miles to work and back a day is crap, compared to the 10 miles each way I was doing a couple of times a week last summer, but I reckon since moving back to Coventry I've cycled more than I did in the last few months living in Leam!

Up for that. I don't think I'd be any faster than 51 minutes, mind.

Us cov lot are 'ard we eat 16 miles for breakfast...

It's only a 9 mile ride to Coventry and it's not too tough (apart from the Stoneleigh hill). There's nothing too interesting to do in Leamington so I wouldn't want everyone going out of their way to come visit. I was just wondering if there was anyone already here or if I am the lone fixed gear rider of Leamington Spa. Ha! I'll pop over for a Cov ride one of these days!

Ndipei is in Leamington somewhere.

hey man i am from leam and ride fixed. i have been living in southampton for the past 3 years whilst at uni and been riding with a bunch of people down here. has cov / leam got a good group of people to ride with?

It's sort of an amalgamation of Coventry and Leamington riders. I was in Leam for a few years, but back in Cov now.
Joseph and Joe (Aches and Pains) are both in Leam.

ought to get my mates on these rides (saying this I haven't been yet).
I just ride with them, and it's always nice to ride with new people!

• #11
well i am back in a couple of weeks and it'll be good to meet up with like minded riders and meet some new people =]

I thought I was the lone fixed rider of Leamington Spa! Really good to know I'm not alone, moved here from london in september and so far I've only seen crackheads on squeaky mountain bikes and that legendary wino with his chopper-style riser bars. I've been exploring the area on my own so I've got a few routes too, let's hook up for rides and beers...

I like the question. And the answer is - yes, unfortunately.

Wahey, another Leamingtonian, welcome. So that's 3 of us in Leam (4 including RyDawg), more in Cov , anyone fancy a little ride into the countryside, say 20-30 miles? It'll be like an alleycat but in the countryside and not actually racing, so a...err...lazy feral cat. I'll put routes up so you can have a gander.
P.S. That route looks fun, I'll give it a go tomorrow... -

I've got some routes around Leam up here:

Some OK routes, especially for the summer...

So, does anyone want to go riding this week?
-
• #17
I'm free 'til monday, so yes.
-
• #18
I'm about to go riding about in the countryside. Wheee!
-
• #19
Sounds good, I'm up for that
-
• #20
How far do you want to go? I was planning on stupid shit. Like 50 or something. Riding until I pass out from heat exhaustion! HA!
Still up for it?
-
• #21
err...why not, went to Rugby and back yesterday but my legs should be fine. Might take the ss instead of the fixed or is that cheating?
-
• #22
I ride to Rugby and back when I go to college! What route do you usually take? Fosse Way or the road which leaves through Cubbington?
Has to be fixed! Not sure where I'm planning on going. Just riding. Enjoying the weather. Exploring. Getting lost!

Alright fixed it is, I usually follow route 41 taking in parts of the canal and draycote water. Where you wanna meet? need to pop into the bank first but that should only be 5 mins.

Okay, so, I've never been to Stratford and it's meant to be pretty. Just came up with this little route. Tell me what you think. Want to do it? Stop off in Stratford for snacks (I'm bringing some fruit)?

Stratford is nice but on a day like this country lanes are so much better than 50mph A roads, but I'm not really that fussed...
Is anyone currently living in Leamington? I'm going out for hour long rides about the town every evening now. Would be nice to go out for the occasional ride with someone else. I've also invented a nice 16 mile route which takes you about the town. Just a little something to test myself with every now and then to see if I'm getting stronger. If anyone else wants to give it a shot and try and beat my time of 51 minutes then go ahead. Pretty slow as it was my first attempt and was tired but someone had to set the pace! Check it out here:
