Loads of info about importing VMDK's, not much about getting them out again!

There is a suggestion that Double Take can do this- anyone have any experience of this?

Haven't you got your own AQA thread yet?

You didn't say in your own data centre was running virtual or not.

Why can't you install the apps in your data centre? The source might be gone but the apps are there.
-
• #9
This is possible.
What is missing from your description is the way in which you imagine running it locally.
Bare metal? Good luck getting that to work.
VMWare? This is possible, but you must follow a strict set of steps to prepare it.
Hyper-V? Not much of a chance.

VMWare in the new DC.

Define running? We provide VM's, but don't manage the applications.

Running production websites/apps on cloud-based servers.
Anyone can create a VM, it's using them that I'm interested in. -

Figure this is as good a place as any...
I have about 1.6TB (and growing) of video / music / photos & important documents on an external drive which I want to backup with cloud storage.
Livedrive seems to have decent pricing options (£9.95 a month for 2TB and £14.95 for 5TB) but has absolutely terrible reviews.
Anyone have any good recommendations? I just want something that can store the current amount and automatically sync any additions to those folders.

I hear nice things about Crashplan, but haven't used it.
Although you have just reminded me to sort all of this malarkey out.
-

^ looks good.
I'm keen to see how it handles semi-large file sizes. Most of the videos I have are around 1-3Gb in size. At around $5 per month, I'll give it a go.

So i've signed up for Crashplan+ and started uploading my first backup. Unfortunately it's just over 1.7TB and despite having a 20Mbps upload it's only going at about 2-5Mbps.
Only 38 ish days to go... I have a feeling i might get a call from Virgin Media at some point.
Right, we have 8 virtual machines in the EC2 cloud.
They are running R2008 OS, and custom applications- for which the source code has been lost.
We therefore need to take an image of the virtual hard disc, and then recreate the machines in our own data centre. We cannot simply install the applications anew in our DC.
Is this easy/impossible/dunno?
