Mario is a good bloke - you just need to be super clear with him and confident to pick him up on any issues with the finished article. He is also a lot cheaper than other options.
Its all dependant though on the finish you want. Mario stove bake enamels - which is a soft finish that will chip easily. However, its a delicate looking finishing and you get sharp lugs and option to lug line and run with multiple colours and an array of decals.
The other option is powder coating. A more resiliant finish that, if done well, will last and last. However, its a thicker paint and lugs look a bit fat and flabby. Also, less choices on lug lining etc.
Enamel - Mario - http://london.randomness.org.uk/wiki.cgi?Vaz_Finishes%2C_SE13_6SW
Powdercoating - Armourtex - http://www.armourtexltd.co.uk/- based Hackney ish.
Price wise - Single colour - about the same - between £60 -80

I've heard mixed things about Mario, he sprayed a couple of frames (and added bottle bosses) for me and he did a perfectly reasonable job. He was also fairly inexpensive as I just wanted solid colour, no lug lining etc. It was 5 years ago but cost about £50 a frame for the painting IIRC)

Mario Vaz is vg
Stove enamelling is where it's at.
Paint chips. That's why old bikes have chipped paint. Fact of life.
Powder coating good if you're worried about paint chips. More expensive and less finesse. -

You could always go for the no paint/ rust look...

haha i think i'll stick to paint, but thanks for everything else you posted, really helpful
i need a white frame for a fixed gear resprayed,
i don't know why but i feel like an indie twat when i ride it the way it looks now.
any recommended people for the job?
I've heard about a guy called mario vaz, but nothing too good and i was also wondering, as i'm not too familiar with it, how much a good respray job would cost
all help is much appreciated, thanks
