  • that will be interesting, considering the wind speeds :-/

  • [QUOTE]She also won't be taking a puncture repair kit with her as it is extremely unlikely the tyres will puncture due to the steel belts woven inside./QUOTE]
    uh oh!

  • Its only got one brake

  • It is designed to be as minimalist as possible, to make it aerodynamic

The tubeless rubber tyres measuring 50cm (20in) high and 20cm wide
hmm. stick some gatorskins on there ...

  • 82kg of kit.. packing light.. that's just the brandy.

    Best of luck to her.

  • Has anybody told her not to lean?

  • Yes. Scoble is her coach.

  • The saddle is made of extra-tough organic leather and copper rivets. "A plastic seat would shatter like glass in Antarctica's sub-zero weather," says Fortune.

Brooks B17 Select? Wrong colour though. If I were them I'd certainly be making an antarctic explorer special edition, fits right in with their Edwardian image.

  • What a joke of a bike. No doubt she had that especially made for her but by who?...the scrapheap challenge team? I would have thought that a fat bike with an internally geared hub would have ridden better, weighed less whilst still being able to pull cargo and reduced the potential for mechanicals to occur.

  • Maybe they're worried about the internals freezing up?

  • I thought that, but would the lubrication oil handle the cold? I'm sure they must have considered a Rohloff.

  • handy pointers to seat, brakes, wheels etc on that pic.....

  • To be honnest, gear cables would have seized long before the internal planetary gears of a hub where to stop functioning

  • The guys that built it seem to have snow experience. Do they use hub gears on the Iditarod?

  • Look at the height of the lower jockey wheel aswell, not prone to damage at all!

  • Bleeding cold snapping fingers..

  • Beauty! Reminds me of the 3/16th chain I used to run on my street bike with two from chainrings

  • She's less than 100miles away at the minute.

  • ...and made it, chapeau to her.

  • Not surprised shes made it,

shes done a desert ultra marathon thing for blue peter before. Real athlete in disguise she is.

More impressive than pretty much all of the traditional sporty blokes theyve had on the show.

  • Did anyone see the programme? 4.30 BBC1 - what sort of time is that?! Surely only kids and the unemployed will watch that?

  • And deaf people too, don't forget.
