Bump for a brilliant ride. Really enjoyed the last trip out. Sadly I'm likely to be otherwise engaged but will keep an eye in case plans change.

I am up for the riding and drinking part! It's in the diary!
Remind me, will I need gears for Oxford ride?
-

Most of us were fixed last time - there are a few decent climbs but all very doable.

Thanks Tim.
Oh, and attendees are not obliged to do the run. Having a few friendly faces and compatriots to fight off the pitchfork brigade, and to mind the bikes, would be appreciated by those mad enough to do the run as well.

My kind of ride. Not too sure about the running though. I'll go for a jog when the weather warms up, see how it goes.....

Oh alright, me too. Maybe even the running bit if I can muster the enthusiasm to restart training on feet instead of wheels.

Also I love this ride.

Oh no! Same day as the Etape - I will be racing round the Highlands / picking tacks out of my tyres by the side of the road. What a shame - I might have even been persuaded to drag myself out for the run. Have a great ride!

Good luck with the Etape but really what is up with this kinda behaviour?
picking tacks out of my tyres by the side of the road.
As per usual, I find myself wondering what the hell is up with people.
This thread is also making me wistful for Spring to hurry the hell up and come!

but really what is up with this kinda behaviour?
Indeed!
Last year a few of us travelled out to Oxford, and had a superb ride.
This plan for a ride is very much at its early stages, but on Sunday, 13th May, there is a 10k fun run around Oxford, raising funds for Muscular Dystropy. As a cousin's son is a sufferer, this is a charity close to my heart, so the notion came to me of a ride out from London at first light, hook up with the Oxford crew for a locks, pitchforks and torches welcoming committee, run the race before a baying crowd of angry locals, and then grab a few pints in the Turf afterwards, if we can outrun the local bulls.
There may be a requirement to raise a certain amount for the charity, but the details have yet to be confirmed. However, as there are many budding triathletes on the forum, we only need to fall in the Thames, after a few pints following the race, to qualify as quasi-Ironmen!
So, what say you, intrepid fellow travellers from the smoke?
