  • Is anyone going? Is the forum involved at all and have we been invited to participate?

  • I haven't seen an invite, but generally it's up to people to open conversation with them about doing stuff.

  • Should be going, but this show it really quite small for the bikes compare the rich boys of hiking and boats... =p

  • there will be some serious bike polo going on there, top 20 teams in Europe competing as well as some have a go sessions, drop by if youre there!

  • I shall be going

  • The polo tournament will be well worth watching. Large forum 24 contingent will be there.

  • think i might go. forum group outing?

  • Sorry guys, I'm Dutch; what's a jumble?

  • Sorry guys, I'm Dutch; what's a jumble?

Turn up, pay to rent a table and sell anything you don't need. Or end up buying stuff you don't need.

  • I'll be there

  • I work nearby, would like to see the forum24ers play - is there a schedule?

  • http://www.lfgss.com/thread77475.html Should have details about schedule for the tournament.

  • Join the LHBPA for a fiver, get in for free!

  • Just booked in for this - will try and see some polo.

  • Join the LHBPA for a fiver, get in for free!

Is this written down anywhere? How do I join?

  • I'm not sure if Josh and John (tournament organisers) will be cool with offering the LHBPA deal out to everyone, but you can find out more about the LHBPA (and join) here:

    http://www.lhbpa.org/

  • ah right cool, they are doing 'have a go' sessions, I have wanted to try polo for ages

maybe see some of you there on thursday!

  • Awesome, come 'have a go' then and see you there!

(Apparently we still have lots of free tickets, so I expect it's not a problem for polo-intrigued forum members to join the LHBPA for a fiver and secure free tickets to the Bike Show.)

  • I just joined LHBPA as I was always really curious about polo but too lazy to do anything. This tournament looks really good! Is it still possible to get a ticket for the Bike Show?

  • probably head down tomorrow
is there going to be a ldnfgss stand again like at earls court ?

  • I don't think so. The Boss has had a lot on.

  • all he does is sit at home and tell people off for being naughty how hard can that be
he must be able to do that from the middle of docklands ?

  • I think the servers are in that part of the world.

  • The cost is the real problem... why would we do it?

Earls' Court cost over £4k in the end, all costs factored in (real figure somewhere, but this is a flippant response). That was including a hefty discount on the space, but not including insurance, furniture, photo wall, transport, music rights, internet, some refreshments, etc.

I thought it would be a good thing, deliver some derivative value to smaller companies around the community and give us a whale of a time. I really badly budgeted it though, and a lot of the costs surprised me in that I neither included them nor anticipated the price (such as internet on the stand being £400 for 4 days).

I can't justify anything like this type of cost again, a better use of that kind of money when it is available is to buy everyone several drinks and let you get sloshed (Bicycle Film Festival) or support big rides (coach back from Dunwich).

No more events for us, not unless there is a real reason to do it and ideally the opportunity to recoup costs (such as selling T-shirts).

  • will you be attending dave ?
it think my gold star might be fading <=
it's time to hand over a bag full of pennies to you again ! i've been saving them up
