  • I am just wondering what you eat during a long ride or race??

I tend to have power bar cookies and cream on long runs with short ones fuelled by jelly beans and wine gums :) anyone have any really strange preferences?
It has to be some sort of cake at the mid ride cafe stop, that and a hot chocolate!

    Bouncy.

  • flies

  • Jamaican Ginger Cake.

    50/14 for the win.

  • seriously though, bananas. And Starbars.

  • Roughly speaking my habits are thus.

    <65mi usually nothing.
    65-100mi a few mule bars.
100-160mi as much as I can cram into my mouth of whatever I can find!

  • Foie Gras

  • Jamaican Ginger Cake.

    50/14 for the win.

I didn't realise that was a fiddy thing. Remember I gave you a ginger cake in Cumbria? Good stuff. Often 2 for £1 in Iceland...

Soreen malt loaf is amazing for warding off the dreaded bonk too.

  • Cliff Bars, peanut butter and honey mini sarnies, nanas and ginger cake at the tea stop. Shot blocks too.

    Greedy

  • Soft cheese & grapes

  • That you did, malt cake too.

kendal mint cake as well is a great option.

  • Your mum

  • Kendal Mint cake is fucking gross!

  • flies

I know an old woman who swallowed a fly...

  • ... she had a serious mental illness and ate herself to death in a grotesque way.

  • Cupcakes.

  • I'm partial to a battenberg cake although that is a sugar hit more than anything. Great pick me up for that horrible 3am lull on a night ride.

  • Snickers bars and wine gums, too. But mainly cupcakes.

  • nothing during the ride. nothing before. gorge myself afterwards. Its the alexander technique

  • Malt loaf.

  • Riding anything more than 50 miles is every excuse I need to gorge on fatty sugary foods before, during and indeed after.

  • agree with above posts re malt loaf, its ace but i spread butter on each slice, and also bananas and i am especially partial to the toffee coated flapjakcs....drool.

oh yes and lager, not sure this is particularly performance enhancing but psycologically its just the ticket :)

  • Lobster, washed down with Armagnac on the climbs, ice cream on the descent.

Or, if commuting, gravalax on rye

  • guinness
