10-4 Torro frames

  • Anyone ridden one?

At least, judging by the wheelbase, toe overlap is a real concern. Compared to a similar sized (top tube) Bareknuckle, the wheelbase is 20mm shorter.

  • 77 angles, crazy shit. welds look quite rough

  • It looks like a Polish dreadnought or an armoured train, but it is charming in its own way.

  • bump

And, as I don't want to start another thread, I will use this same vessel to inquire about peoples' problems with short wheelbase.

Again: Torro's (L) wheelbase is listed as being 940mm. On a similar sized Felt TK3 it is 967mm. This does not surprise me as the angles on a Torro are steeper, but I am interested to hear if people deem even the TK3 unsuitable for everyday use. Cinelli Mash with a 550mm top tube has a wheelbase of 973mm and I know those are ridden on the streets. Then again, 973 is a lot more than 940.

EDIT: Torro's wheelbase was with a fork rake of 35mm. Unless I am completely mistaken, with a 45mm rake the wheelbase will be 10mm longer. Not that it would solve a possible problem, but it still makes a difference.

  • Doesnt sound like the sort of geometry you want to be road riding on. Probably great for cycling backwards around a kids park though.
Not because of the wheelbase alone, but because its combination with the HTA and the rake.

My roadie has a wheelbase of only 967, and handles like a dream.

  • Yeah. It would most likely be sheer lunacy to get one. Still, the fucker looks like a fun brute.

The kids park comment was mostly me being a twat. I would'nt write it off on wheelbase alone, and I like a steep seat tube too. But that front end looks mental.

Might well be fun. But it might well drive you nuts over longer stints too.

  • Twat or not, the price of the frame is still somewhat high for something that might well prove an idiotic purchase.

Just trying to figure out where I should throw my money...

  • looks like it wont even have foot but crank overlap. Avoid, it will be heavy and handle like shit.

But a Dodici Special is so hipster!

  • I'm probably revealing just how untrendy I am. But if I was in the market for that sort of frame. I'd be tempted to go with one of these, and use the fact that its cheap as chips, to experiment with the finish. Steel though.

  • Funny you should propose those as us Finns just got slapped with some extra tax on those as they come from China and are considered criminally cheap. (Well, something like that.) With that extra for importing one, the total amount needed to pay for a Visp is now close to 400 euros.

    I consider it a no-go.

EDIT: There's nought wrong with that Visp other than the new price.

  • Visp!!!

  • But a Dodici Special is so hipster!

it's very rare a frame will not look like shit with a triple triangle.

  • Got one built up in Dublin and its great.
