So I want to do a TEFL course and go teach in english in somewhere like Japan, probably just for a year but never say never. My plan is that I'd work on some photography projects while I'm over there and hopefully come back with something that I could make some money from.

My girlfriend told me tonight that she thinks if I go that far away for a year it'd be the end of our otherwise pretty healthy, happy and promising relationship.

I really don't want to stay in Britain for the rest of my life and had previously mentioned the possibility of trying to improve my German and seeking employment there, she didn't seem too keen on this either but she didn't give me such an ultimatum.

Do I give up on my plans/dreams or should I try and compromise in some way?
