I don't like NYE, either, but I won't be in the country. I'll probably spend the evening playing boardgames with friends. Good luck with crossing the Thames during the ride!

I'm a billy no mates for NYE this year too. All my mates are going away.
Count me in with bells on!

Puncture resistant tyres might be an idea for this one!

Some thinking about routes beforehand might indeed be a good idea to avoid Central London as lots of roads are probably going to be closed innit?

+1!
Now - I'd like to try to wangle myself onto this, however it does mean leaving the missus in on her own so might require a bit of thought...

Bring her!

I'm sure we could find her a bike...

I'll probably be at home again this year, trying to time an ejaculation perfectly to the strike of midnight.
I read on the 5th Floor website that it's the key to time travel.

^ Gave up trying after five failed years. Seeing Hucknall in the background of Hootenanny kept putting me off...

Hmmm...me likes this idea lots! I mean NYE ride not the midnight ejaculation.

I'm sure there are some options, there. She could meet yoy (and everybody else) at the final destination, for instance. Or non-cycling partners could man's support van, rescuing riders who collapse from cold/fatigue/inebriation/mechanical-failure aling the way.

I should elaborate.
When i say leaving her on her own, I mean on her own with the sleeping children. One of us really should stay in (i suppose).
Will have to see if she's got some girlfriends to come over.

If like me you utterly detest New Years' Eve, then can I suggest that we convene somewhere suitable and ride (preferably avoiding the usual hell holes) and have a jar in the five boozers that we frequent on a weekly basis.
The missus will be away and the prospect of either spending the evening in watching Jools Holland and his Hootenanny (with Hucknall perving in the background like he does every year), or going to a house party or hosting a dinner party etc really isn't my idea of enjoyment. Therefore an evening spent attempting to ride the GSIAD route is a much more appealing.
The order of things will be as follows:
7pm for a 7.30pm roll...
Black Friar @ Blackfriars Bridge north side
SOUTHS: Coach & Horses @ Acre Lane SW? (Clapham Endz)
SOUTH EASTS: The Roebuck @ Borough (50 Great Dover Street, SE1 4YG)
NORFS: The Flask @ Highgate (up Swains and turn left)
EASTS ? I dunno somebody fill in pls - this may well be avoided to reduce time spent etc etc blah blah.
WESTS: The Raven @ Stamford Brook (Goldhawk Road, not Sheperds Bush Endz)
CENTRAL: The Lamb @ Lambs Conduit street, WC2 or tramp fun somewhere?
The final pub and end of ride shenanigans may well depend on the time that we finish...
Now the dull and boring bit - please make sure that you have a roadworthy machine prior to leaving your place of residence. Bring what you need to get yourself going again. Please don't be the one who catches a flat and you don't have a tube. Or a pump. Have the tools that you need. Turn up at the Blackfriar, have a beer and swap numbers.
